4.6.8 Opening the injection gun

It may be necessary to open the handpiece because the metal core is no longer moving
freely within the plastic shell. This may occur due to use in extremely dirty conditions, poor
cleaning, no cleaning, or use of "sticky" products such as iron.
1. Place the handpiece on a clean, flat and stable surface to minimise the risk of
losing parts.
2. Slide the rubber cover (and O-ring) towards the nozzle.
3. Remove the five screws (note that they are not all the same length).
4. Turn the handpiece over and lay it on the surface (with the side that held the screws
facing down).
Carefully separate the two halves. Watch out: the spring, bush and trigger may
spring out of the shell. Take care not to lose these.
5. The core can now be removed from the shell. Vaccine residues on the core can now
be removed with soap, water and paper towels.
