4. Pulse 50 and Pulse 250 needle-free injection system

The use of these two systems is virtually identical. The following chapter explains the use
and maintenance of Pulse needle-free systems.
In this text, Pulse 50 and Pulse 250 are often abbreviated to P50 and P250.
4.1

Recommended injection site

The recommended injection site is in the neck behind the ear,
ideally inside the triangle indicated (not too close to the ear).
Make sure that the safety catch is OFF and that the trigger
lock of the injection gun is kept constantly depressed during
injection. The injection is activated by pressing the gun against
the pig with sufficient force. Make sure that you always place
the injection gun flat against the pig!
If there are any scars, dirt, abscesses, etc. at the injection site shown, we recommend
injecting on the other side of the pig. If there are injuries or damage here too, inject at
least 3 cm away from these.
Depending on the liquid used, a swelling or rash may develop
at the injection site.
Press the pig against the injection gun with sufficient force to
activate the gun. Do not withdraw the pig too quickly, or the
injection process will not be completed.
Make sure the correct pressure is set on the dosing unit. If the
pressure is too low, the injection will not be completed or liquid
may leak from the gun after injection; excess pressure may result
in tissue damage or liquid return.
NEVER drop the nozzle or injection gun, or knock them against a hard surface; damage
may cause equipment to malfunction. Do not attempt to remove blockages using a needle
or other hard object.
Make sure there is no dirt in the inlet valve as this can lead to blockages.
Check the injection visually. The injection pressure may need to be adjusted (depending on
the weight and condition of the pig).
