1.1. General information

When installing and configuring your door
intercom device, please observe the following
features:
Operating the door intercom device on an
analogue extension of a telephone system, an
analogue main line or other a / b ports. Please
note: When using other a / b ports, please
ensure that such a port meets the necessary
requirements of an analogue extension, e.g.
line busy, DTMF transparency, etc.
Operation without additional power supply is
possible
The door intercom station works in full duplex
mode, a change to semi duplex mode or sim-
plex mode is possible (where required, power
supply is needed).
Installation prerequisites
The best possible installation height for your
door intercom station is for the operation
distance of the intercom station to be within
30-50 cm and a person standing in front of
your door can easily speak into the micro-
phone of the intercom station.
Please maintain the largest possible distance
between microphone and speaker. This will
give you the best possible audio transmission
in full duplex mode.
For reverse side mounting modules (= instal-
lation behind an existing front wall), please
ensure sufficiently large sound slits in front
of the microphone and the speaker (both
have to cover at least 75 % of the speaker
membrane surface or the microphone
39
opening respectively). Please confer to the
measurement drawings to be found at
www.behnke-online.de/downloads
For acoustic reasons, please use flush instal-
lation for reverse side mounting modules
(without any distance) behind your front wall
and please refrain from using any other than
the seals provided for sealing between the
front wall and the module.
Outdoor installation
When installing door intercom devices of the
Series 20 and 30 on the weather side of a
building, they should be protected with an
additional rainproof cover for flush mounting
and an additional on-wall housing for on-wall
mounting (Please ensure correct installation
of the seals provided).
For in-wall mounting, please use sufficient
sealing on the top part of your door inter-
com station to protect it from precipitation,
especially in case the background is uneven
(e.g. by using silicone). Please do not seal the
centre part of the lower edge to leave a water
drain. When using cover panels, the cover
panel should be sealed against the in-wall
housing or the even surface of the cavity wall
mounting with a suitable sealing agent.
In case of usage with columns from other
manufacturers it is absolutely necessary to
take measures against condensate formation!
Sealing
To protect your door intercom device from
moisture, please ensure correct installation of
the sealing provided. The correct position of the
seal on the in-wall or on-wall housing is vital! A
housing for in-wall mounting is intended for a
