SHAVINGS EXTRACTION
1. Depending on which side of the planer you wish the
chips to flow, connect the dust bag (14) to the appro-
priate dust/chip extraction port (4).
2. The dust bag (14) can be installed to allow shavings to
flow either to the left or to the right of the workpiece.
3. Set the extraction guide switch (8) to point towards the
extraction port (4) that is to be used.
4. A workshop dust extraction system or a household
vacuum cleaner can be connected to the port (4) for
the efficient removal of dust and shavings permitting a
safer and cleaner working environment.
DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT
WARNING: Always ensure that the tool is
switched off and unplugged from the power supply
before making adjustments, installing or removing
blades.
1. To replace the drive belt first take out the three cross-
head screws that secure the drive belt cover (10) on
the left-hand side of the planer as viewed from the
rear).
2. Remove the damaged belt and use a soft brush to
clean the pulleys and the surrounding area.
NOTE: Wear eye protection when cleaning out the pul-
ley area.
3. Тhe three continuous ▲ profiles on the belt inner side
shall coincide with the three "V" grooves in the pul-
leys. Place the new belt over the bottom pulley. Half fit
the other end of the belt on the top pulley then roll the
belt in place whilst turning the pulley.
4. Check that the belt runs evenly by manually turning
the belt.
5. Replace the cover and the three fixing screws.
6. Plug the machine, switch it on and run the planer for a
minute to make sure that the motor and belt operate
correctly.

Set of 2 blades (fitted); parallel fence guide with attach-
ment knob; dust bag; blade spanner.

Maintenance

WARNING: Always ensure that the tool is
switched off and unplugged before attempting to per-
form inspection or maintenance.
Regularly check that all the fixing screws are tight. They
may vibrate loose over time.
Re-lubricate all moving parts at regular intervals.
GENERAL INSPECTION
When the carbon brushes are worn out, both brushes
must be replaced simultaneously with genuine brushes

at SPARKY service centre for warranty and post-war-
ranty service.
If the replacement of the supply cord is necessary, this
has to be done by the manufacturer or his agent in order
to avoid a safety hazard.
CLEANING
For safe operation always keep the machine and its ven-
tilation slots clean.
Regularly check to see if any dust or foreign matter has
entered the grills near the motor and around the switch-
es. Use a soft brush to remove any accumulated dust.
Wear safety glasses to protect your eyes whilst cleaning.
If the body of the tool needs cleaning, wipe it with a soft
damp cloth. A mild detergent can be used.
WARNING: Never use alcohol, petrol or other
cleaning agent. Never use caustic agents to clean
plastic parts.
WARNING: Water must never come into con-
tact with the tool.
IMPORTANT! To assure product safety and reliability,
repairs, maintenance and adjustment (including brush
inspection and replacement) should be performed by
certified service centres or other qualified service or-
ganisations, always using genuine replacement parts.

Warranty

The guarantee period for SPARKY power tools is deter-
mined in the guarantee card.
Faults due to normal wear, overloading or improper han-
dling will be excluded from the guarantee.
Faults due to defective materials implemented as well as
defects in workmanship will be corrected free of charge
through replacement or repair.
The complaints for defective SPARKY power tools will
be recognized if the machine is sent back to the dealer
or is presented to the authorised warranty service centre
undismantled, in its initial condition.
