MOUNTING THE PROTECTIVE COVER
Place the protective cover 9 onto the gear case
and fix it on both sides with plastic screws 10
or with a screw on one side and the auxiliary
handle 3 on the opposite side.
ELECTRONIC CONTROL
WARNING: Do not operate the ma-
chine if the electronic device is faulty, be-
cause this means operating at increased
speed (rpm). The event of fault can be identi-
fied by the lack of soft start or the impossibility
to adjust the speed.
The polisher features full-wave electronic con-
trol with the following functions:
Soft start and restriction of starting current
The soft start ensures smooth start of the ma-
chine without jerks and prevents creating volt-
age fluctuations in the supply network.
Speed pre-selection
The speed can be adjusted smoothly depending
on the specific operation performed. Pre-select
the speed range according to Table 1:

WARNING: Choose the speed appro-
priate for the application in advance by rotat-
ing the thumbwheel 8, according to Table 2.
Select the proper accessory suitable for the
specific operation and speed. Do not operate at
speed exceeding 1500 min
CONSTANT ELECTRONIC SPEED
CONTROL
The electronic device stabilises the pre-selected
speed (rpm) constantly in order to limit the spin-
dle speed reduction under variable load values.
THERMAL PROTECTION
This feature is provided to protect the motor
from overheating during extended operation and

overloading. The electronic device switches the
machine to safety mode before the critical tem-
perature is reached.
In safety mode the motor rotates at lower speed
to enhance cooling but the machine can not be
operated. The machine will cool down in about
3-5 min and can be operated again. To resume
operation, first switch off and then on the ON/
OFF switch 4.

Maintenance

WARNING: Always ensure that the
tool is switched off and unplugged before
attempting to perform inspection or mainte-
nance.
BRUSH REPLACEMENT
This power tool is equipped with auto-stop
brushes. When the carbon brushes are worn
out, the machine switches itself off. In this case
both brushes must be replaced simultaneously
with genuine brushes at SPARKY service centre
for warranty and post-warranty service.
GENERAL INSPECTION
Regularly inspect all fasteners and ensure they
are properly tightened. Should any of the screws
be loose, retighten it immediately to avoid haz-
ards.
If the replacement of the supply cord is neces-
sary, this has to be done by the manufacturer or
his agent in order to avoid a safety hazard.
CLEANING
For safe operation always keep the machine
and its ventilation slots clean.
Regularly check to see if any dust or foreign
matter has entered the ventilation slots and the
grills around the switches. Use a soft brush and/
or air jet to remove any accumulated dust. Wear
safety glasses to protect your eyes whilst clean-
ing.
Exterior plastic parts may be cleaned with a
damp cloth and mild detergent if necessary.
WARNING: Never use alcohol, petrol
or other cleaning agent. Never use caustic
agents to clean plastic parts.
