WARNING Before you start the engine, make sure the
saw chain is not contacting anything. Make sure the
chain brake always is activated before each starting.
CHECKING OIL SUPPLY
After starting the engine, run the chain at medium
speed and see if chain oil is scattered off as shown in
Fig. 11.
IMPORTANT The oil tank should become nearly empty
by the time fuel is used up. Be sure to refill the oil tank
every time when refueling the saw.
OPERATIONAL CHECK OF THE CLUTCH
Before each use, you shall confirm that there is no chain
movement when the chain saw running at idling speed.
3.2 WORKING TECHNIQUES
Follow the below mentioned points, in order to carry
out your sawing work safely, without accidents and in-
juries.
If you are tired do not use the chainsaw.
f
Do not use the chainsaw with bad weather.
f
Always hold the chainsaw with both hands, while
f
the engine is running (Fig. 12).
Make sure that the area around you is free from
f
obstacles, which may interrupt you while you are
cutting or, they may be hurt from falling trees or
branches.
Make sure that you are standing firmly and that
f
there is nothing which can make you losing your
balance.
Be aware that kickback (Fig. 14) accidents mostly
f
happen during limbing.
Never cut at a height over your shoulders and
f
never cut with the nose of the bar.
Never work standing on a ladder, in a tree or
f
where you do not have firm ground to stand on
(Fig. 13).
Use high revs on the engine of the chainsaw,
f
while cutting.
Use idle speed after every cut.
f
Cutting on the push stroke may be dangerous,
f
since a kickback may happen.
Make sure that the chain is well tensioned, so as
f
not jam during cutting. If the chain jams during
the cut, stop the engine of the chainsaw immedi-
ately. Use a lever to lift up the cut wood and free
the chainsaw.
Make sure that the wood will not split during cut.
f
Make sure that the chain will not touch the
f
ground during cut.
SAFETY RULES ON HOW TO AVOID KICKBACK
Kickback is a very sudden movement of the chainsaw.
It happens when the user cut an object with the up-
per quadrant of the bar nose and the chainsaw bar
jumps off the object, towards the user. Kickback may
become very dangerous for the user and therefore, be
extremely cautious when limbing and avoid contact-
ing the log with the nose of the bar. Moreover, be very
cautious with the limbs under tension, since they can
move backwards and towards you like a spring, which
can cause you serious injury (Fig. 14).
3.3 END OF OPERATIONS
When you have finished your work:
Switch off the engine as indicated above.
f
Disconnect the spark plug cap.
f
MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
1. WARNING: Before cleaning or doing maintenance
work, disconnect the spark plug cap and read the
relevant instructions. Wear proper clothing and
protective gloves whenever your hands are at risk.
2. WARNING: Never use the machine with worn or
damaged parts. Faulty or worn-out parts must
always be replaced and not repaired. Only use
original spare parts: the use of non-original and/or
incorrectly fitted parts will jeopardize the machine
and impair safety, may cause accidents or personal
injuries for which the Manufacturer is under no cir-
cumstance liable or responsible.
3. Any adjustments or maintenance operations not
described in this manual must be carried out by
your Dealer or a specialized Service Centre with
the necessary knowledge and equipment to en-
sure that the work is done correctly maintaining
the machine's original safety level. Any operations
performed in unauthorized centers or by unqual-
ified persons will totally invalidate the Warranty
and all obligations and responsibilities of the Man-
ufacturer.
4. Keep all nuts and screws tight to be sure the ma-
chine is always in safe working condition. Routine
maintenance is essential for safety and for main-
taining a high-performance level.
5. Do not perform any work on the machine that is
not described in this manual unless adequately
skilled with appropriate tools.
6. Do not store the machine with fuel in the tank in
an area where the fuel vapors could reach an open
fame, a spark or a strong heat source.
7. Allow the engine to cool down before storing the
machine in any enclosure.
8. To reduce fire hazards, keep the engine, exhaust
silencer and fuel storage area free from sawdust,
branches, leaves, or excessive grease. never leave
containers with the debris inside the storage area.
9. If the fuel tank has to be emptied, this should be
done outdoors once the engine has cooled down.
10. Wear work gloves when performing all mainte-
nance.
11. Before putting the machine away, check if you
have removed wrenches or tools used for mainte-
nance.
12. Store the machine out of the reach of children!
AIR FILTER
1. AIR FILTER
Dust on the air filter surface can be removed by tap-
ping a corner of the filter against a hard surface. To
clean dirt in the meshes, split the filter into halves and
brush in gasoline. When using compressed air, blow
from the inside. To assemble the filter halves, press
the rim until it clicks (Fig. 24).
