Before reassembly:
• Clean the thread on both upper casting and lower housing with a soft brush (an old toothbrush is
ideal) and blow out any remaining dust.
• Apply a thin film of oil (mineral oil, liquid paraffin, or sewing-machine oil) to both threads (upper
millstone (12) and mill chamber housing (11), with a soft cloth.
• Screw on upper millstone casting taking care not to damage the threads. Put the feed hopper (7).
• Regulate the coarseness of the milled product as above mentioned.
NO FINE GRINDING IS OBTAINED. Please see special instructions "Wear of millstones".
If you are in any difficulties, please contact us, or your retailer, for advices.
WHAT TO AVOID...WHAT NEVER TO DO...
• Never plug in the socket without setting starter switch in the "OFF" position.
• Never run the machine in any position other than vertical.
• Never run the mill without all the equipment in place: selector, glass jaror bag, hopper with lid,
protective casting for axle, hopper, .....
• Coarse grinding without any lid on the feed hopper.
• Never store your mill in a cold or humid place.
• Before dismantling always put the mill in a normal warm room (18-22°C) and this absolutely 24
hours before.
• Never use neither grain that is damp nor only oilseeds such as linseed.
• Never grind cereals with foreign particle like stones, metal, ......
• Never run the mill without the locking screw tightened up (4) from the upper millstone (12).
• Never wash the stone grinding faces.
• Never run the mill without the upper millstone (12) casted in.
• Don't start the mill more than 15 time per hour.
• To use the mill within framework other than household setting.
MILLSTONES
WEAR OF THE MILLSTONES
SAMAP millstones are made of natural components such as: on one hand an abrasive which is the
working part of the mill like CORUNDUM, an extremly hard emery granule which is a natural occuring
stone found in Naxos in the Greek Islands. On the other hand, the binding agent consisting of stabilised
magnesite cement made upon terrestrial and nautical magnesite.
The sole goal of this cement is to firmly maintain the hard emery granules together.
The wear on the stones is negligible but known and normal with domestic use.
The stones are simple to change, should the need arise, because of the strongly built of the mill.
In order to preserve the fineness and the life of your mill, please keep in mind the following
maintenance rule .
First at all, keep in mind : THE FINER THE FLOUR REQUIRED, THE LESS WEAR ON THE STONES. The
coarser the flour required, the more wear on the stones. How explain this paradox?
It is wrong to think that a fine grinding is going to arrive to a maximum wear. When touching, or nearly,
the millstone abrasive i.e. corundum, is going to worn out until the last hundredth of millimeter. It
cannot escape because in the tiny place between the two millstones there are grains or flour.
ALWAYS UNPLUG THE MILL BEFORE ANY INTERVENTION
