Troubleshooting
Fault
Measured value of sensor
is 0 ppm and error message
"Check Clt Input" appears on
®
DULCOMETER
D1C display
Measured value of sensor
is 0 ppm and sensor current
is 3.0 - 4.0 mA
Controller limit value moni-
toring on the current value
(20 mA) has been activated.
Measured value of the meas-
uring cell is correct – chlorine
concentration was momen-
tarily too high
Measured value of sensor
is arbitrary and sensor current
is greater than 20 mA**
40
Possible Cause
3) Flow rate of sample water too low
4) Air bubbles on the outside of the
membrane
5) Interfering substances in sample
water (surfactants, oil, alcohols,
corrosion inhibitors)
6) Deposits (carbonate, manganese,
iron oxide) have blocked
membrane
7) pH-value > pH 9.5
8) No electrolyte present in
membrane cap
1) Sensor is connected to controller
with wrong polarity
2) Signal lead is broken
3) Sensor defective
4) Controller defective
1) Run-in time too short
2) Substances causing interference,
e.g. reduced effectiveness
of connections
3) Reference electrode defective
(see 1)
1) Check system (actual chlorite
concentration, flow, control
parameters, size of servo
component...)
2) The terminals are too loosely
connected (where instrument
measuring range is occasionally
being exceeded)
3) Measuring range of the measuring
cell is too low (where instrument
measuring range is often being
exceeded)
1) Chlorine content exceeds the
upper limit of measuring range
Action
Correct flow rate (see Chapter 14,
"Technical data")
Increase the flow rate within the
permitted range
Confer with ProMinent
Replace membrane cap (see
Chapters 6, 8.1 "Run-in period"
and 8.2 "Calibration")
Lower the pH value
(pH 6.5-pH 9.5)
Fill membrane cap with new
electrolyte (see Chapters 6
"Assembly", 8.1 "Run-in period"
and 8.2 "Calibration")
Correctly connect sensor to the
controller (see Chapter 7)
Replace signal lead
Return sensor to ProMinent
Check controller with the sensor
simulator (DULCOMETER
Simulator, order no. 1004042,
return to dealer if faulty)
See Chapter 8.1 "Run-in period"
Examine sample water for
interfering substances and remedy
Return sensor to ProMinent for
regeneration
Rectify the fault
Tighten the terminal connection
(see chap. 14 Technical Data)
Use a measuring cell with an
appropriate measuring range
Check the whole system, remedy
fault and then calibrate sensor
(see Chapter 8.2)
