Fitting instructions
1. Disassemble the bumper and permanently remove the metal buffer beam as also the two plastic
protection caps which are at the back of the body work (see fig. 1). The bolts which fix the bumper
have to be inserted to stop water from running into the bumper.
2. Shove the tow bar with the supporting arms in the liberated chassis openings. Points (A) match the
already provided drillings in the outside of the chassis beams, these drillings are sealed with tape which
has to be removed. Insert the bolts and the washers and tighten firmly (see tension).
3. Make an incision in the underside of the bumper :

- for Altea XL : see fig. 2
- for Altea Freetrack with fixed ball T45 : see fig. 3
- for Altea Freetrack with removable ball T36 : see fig. 4
4. Assemble the bumper on the vehicle.
5. Assemble the ball together with the socket holder and the security shackle, tighten everything firmly (see
tension).
Disassemblage of the bumper
For Altea XL
- remove the rear-light units
- 2x3 small screws under the light units
- 2x4 small screws on the splashboard
- 7 small screws on the underside of the bumper
- shove the bumper backwards, fixed in the middle with large tension
For Altea Freetrack
- remove the rear-light units
- 2x3 small screws under the light units
- 2x4 small screws under the splashboard
- 9 small screws under the bumper
- loosen the sides with a click and shove the bumper backwards
Note
Please consult your cardealer or owners manual for the maximal permissable towing mass.
Remove any bitumen coating on the fastening position for the tow bar.
When drilling, be carefull not to damage any brake lines, electrical wiring or fuel lines.
