PAR. 8
The WATER CLEAN desalter is a special piece of apparatus used to remove mineral salts from the mains
water supply. Using water containing salts may adversely effect the whole operation of the autoclave system.
The autoclave comes ready for connection to a WATER CLEAN desalter.
Perform the following sequence step by step for successful installation of the desalter.
1. Mount the equipment on the wall using 2 anchors (picture 1).
2. Use a rilsan pipe diam. 6x4mm A (picture 2) to connect the desalter water inlet to the water supply.
3. Use a rubber hose diam. 8mm (picture 2) to connect your water outlet with the filling cock G (picture A)
on the autoclave. Unscrew cock before hose connection. Fasten both hose ends with hose clamps.
4. Plug the WATER CLEAN power cord (Picture 1) with power outlet 1 (Picture A) on the autoclave's rear
panel. This will provide power to the electrovalve in the desalter (Picture 3).
5. Connect the control system tansformer to power outlet 2 (Picture A) on the autoclave's rear panel and to
the jack on the desalter control system (picture 1). This way, you can power the control system and
detect the electric conductivity of the water.
6. The ON led (Picture 1) located on the desalter lights up to signal proper desalter operation.
7. The ON led turns off and the ALARM led (picture 1) lights up to warn of any desalter troubles (desalter
running out of resin). If this is the case, replace resins. To do this, unscrew the cartridge holder 3 (picture
4) with the key provided and remove the head 1 (picture 4). Replace cartridge no. 2 (picture 4) with a
new one. The cartridge supplied by the manufacturer in the desalter has a life of about 100-150 litres
water or roughly 200-250 sterilisation cycles. More precise life indications cannot be given as water
purification very much depends on the characteristics of the local water. The desalter offers best
performance with normal potable aqueduct water (500µS conductivity, 27° F hardness).
8. After 200-250 sterilisation cycles the autoclave will display the message REPLACE RESINS. When this
message is displayed, the desalter is no longer running at 100% capacity and you should keep checking
on desalter efficiency by means of the in-built control system.
9. When the ALARM led on the desalter lights up, you need replacing resins as explained under (7). To
reset the display, press the button TECHNICAL until an acoustic signal is heard. The message
REPLACE RESINS will be then displayed after another 200-250 cycles.
10. Use cock C (Picture A) to drain waste water out of the system. Drainage can be performed into your
local waterworks or into a special optional container (please order separately) with level indicator
displaying all reading on the autoclave display.
11. Connect a 6mm section rubber hose to the safety outlet F (Picture A) and discharge into the waterworks.
