Connecting external speakers
For private listening, you can connect headphones to your Acoustic Wave
WARNING: DO NOT use headphones if the HEADPHONES jack is set up to operate speakers.
The high output volume level may cause hearing damage. Set the HEADPHONES JACK menu
option to HEADPHONES before plugging in your headphones. See "Changing system settings"
on page 20.
WARNING: Long-term exposure to loud music may cause hearing damage. It is best to avoid
extreme volume when using headphones, especially for extended periods.
1. Plug your headphones cable into the HEADPHONES jack on the rear panel (Figure 18).
The speakers are automatically muted while headphones are connected.
2. Check the volume level. You may want to lower the setting before putting the headphones
on your head.

To add stereo sound to another area of your home, you can connect a powered stereo
speaker system to the HEADPHONES jack. The speaker system must have a volume control
and can be either AC- or battery-powered.
1. In the setup menu, change the HEADPHONES JACK option from HEADPHONES to LINE
OUTPUT. See "Changing system settings" on page 20 for instructions.
