Adjusting the axle friction (fig. 4):
• Turn the adjusting screw (15) with the help of a 5 mm T spanner clockwise, axle friction increases.
• Turn the adjusting screw (15) with the help of a 5 mm T spanner anticlockwise, axle friction decreases

SAFETY WARNINGS

• Adapters used on the proximal connection must always be tightened with the set torque of the relevant fit
component. Use a torque wrench.
• Adapters (e.g. tube adapters) used on the distal connection must be inserted down to the end stop in the tube
receiver of the knee joint.
• Tighten the screw (6) on the tube receiver (5) to a torque of 16 Nm and secure with Loctite. Use a torque
wrench (5 mm Allen).
• Observe the alignment guidelines and adjustment instructions.
• Do not use any screws apart from those described above.
• Please do not use any talcum since this could block the joints, above all in connection with lubricants.
• Do not use compressed-air for cleaning. We recommend the use of a brush.
Observe all the above points, otherwise the guarantee becomes null and void!
MAINTENANCE
The joint must be inspected and repaired if necessary every 6 months!
Inspect for:
• Sthe alignment
• the screw connections
• the suitability of the patient (e.g. max. body weight, mobility)
• max. weight and mobility
• loss of lubricant
• damage to the joint and accessories
• soiling of the bushes
• joint play A/P and/or M/L
• contamination with talc
• the extension effect of the extension spring (2)
• the extension stop (23)
CARE
• Clean the join with a soft cloth moistened with a little mild benzene. Do not use any more aggressive cleaning
agents because these can damage the seals and bushes.
• Do not use compressed air for cleaning! Compressed air can force dirt into the seals and bushes. This can lead
to premature damage and wear and tear.
LIABILITY
In the event of a claim: Össur will only consider complaints submitted with a copy of the delivery note or invoice
from Össur and exact details of the reason for returning the joint. A manufacturer can only be held liable for the
failure of his own fittings. Any liability of the manufacturer in excess of this is only possible if his fittings are
demonstrably the cause of the damage or loss of function of fittings from other manufacturers.
CE MARK, COMPATIBILITY
All modular parts have been tested to EC Directive 93/42/EEC and bear the CE mark.
General Conditions:
This product is recommended for use by one patient only. Product liability pursuant to the Medical Devices Act
becomes null and void if it is used for treating more than one patient.
The compatibility of Össur products with fittings from other manufacturers is guaranteed as long as the following
points are satisfied:
• The fittings are only used in compliance with their intended purpose (see Instructions for Use).
• If fittings with different max. weight limits are used, the maximum loading corresponds to that of the weakest
fitting.
