contact with the top skin of the elevator. Allow the epoxy to harden slightly, then peel
off the strips of tape to remove the excess glue. Tape the horn in the vertical position
until the epoxy has cured completely.
The fuselage
The nose former assembly and the seat support framework are constructed from the
set of laser-cut plywood parts supplied. Break the components out of their sheets,
clean up the cut edges, and glue them together as shown in the photos.
Insert the front former in the battery support, as shown in the photo, and slide it into
the nose of the fuselage as far as it will go.
Mark the joint positions on the fuselage shell, then remove the assembly again and
sand the marked areas with abrasive paper until the cloth has a matt finish. The
support assembly can now be glued in the fuselage permanently. This is the
procedure: tack the front and rear formers in place with a little cyano, then the two
lateral support lugs which are screwed to the battery support plate. When the cyano
has hardened, unscrew the two socket-head screws and glue the formers and
support lugs to the fuselage, using plenty of epoxy to obtain really strong joints.
Glue the receiver support, the servo plate (elevator and rudder servos) and the
switch plate in the fuselage: tack the parts in place with cyano, as already described,
then apply a fillet of epoxy to produce permanent joints.
When installing the plate for the rudder and elevator servos, ensure that the semi-
circular cut-outs for the aileron and airbrake servo leads are positioned directly below
the rectangular openings in the wing root fairings, as shown in the photo. Take
particular care when installing this servo plate.
The pilots' seats are mounted on the plywood support assembly shown earlier. The
seat support framework is positioned centrally in the fuselage by means of stacked
packing discs fitted on both sides. Make the packing spacers by gluing together
seven large plywood discs and one small plywood disc for each side.
Slip these two assemblies on a length of beech dowel, and fit the dowel through the
appropriate holes in the wing root fairings.
The distance between the two spacer stacks must match the outside width of the
pilots' seat support; you may need to sand the parts back slightly to achieve this.
Glue the disc assemblies in place when you are satisfied with the fit.
Cut the pilots' seats to the shape shown in the photos, and glue them to the support
framework.
