8. Trouble- -shooting
Fault
Pump is running, but
does not deliver
Pump delivers insuffi-
cient flow rate.
Excessive power con-
sumption
Vibrations and noise dur-
ing pump operation
Caution:
Work on the pump's internal parts during the warranty period is only permitted after prior consultation with the manufacturer.
Cause
Motor is not running because of lack of voltage. Check electrical connections.
Motor is running on two phases only.
Motor winding or electric cable are defective.
The temperature switch monitoring the winding
has tripped the pump because of excessive
temperature rise in the winding.
Gate valve in discharge pipe closed or blocked,
swing check valve blocked.
Pump intake clogged by deposits.
Pump or piping are not completely vented.
Wrong direction of rotation.
Motor is running on two phases only.
Gate valve in the discharge line is not fully open. Fully open the gate valve.
Clogged impeller
Wear of internal pump parts
Gate valve in discharge pipe closed or blocked,
swing check valve blocked.
The fluid contains air or gas.
Water level lowered too much during operation. Verify system data and sizing / Check switching
Wrong direction of rotation.
Operating voltage is too low.
Pump is running in the off-design range
Impeller does not turn easily.
Wear of internal pump parts.
Defective ball bearing in the motor

Wear of internal pump parts.
The fluid contains air or gas.
System--induced vibrations
Defective ball bearing in the motor
Remedy
Replace the defective fuse. Check the electric
cable connections.
Replace stator and/or electric cable by original
spare parts.
The motor will restart automatically once the
unit has cooled down.
Check gate valve, open and/or clean, if necess-
ary. Clean the swing check valve.
Clean the intake, pump components and swing
check valve.
Vent by lifting the pump off the duckfoot bend
and lowering it again. (Remove the vent plug.)
Interchange two of the phases of the power sup-
ply cable.
Replace the defective fuse. Check the electric
cable connections.
Remove deposits in the pump.
Replace worn components by new ones.
Check gate valve, open and/or clean, if necess-
ary. Clean the swing check valve.
