NOTICE! Do not use a flammable solvent to clean the foam filter. The solvent
may dissolve or clog the filter.

REPLACING THE SPARK PLUG

NOTICE! Using an incorrect spark plug can cause engine damage. Only replace
a spark plug with a recommended model (see Specification).
The spark plug must be properly gapped and free of deposits for the best
performance. Check local bylaws to see if a resistor spark plug is required to
suppress ignition signals. Replace the included spark plug with a resistor spark
plug if required.
1.
Remove the spark plug cover (A)
2.
Remove any dirt from around the spark plug area.
3.
Unclip the spark plug lead and remove the spark plug with a spark plug
wrench.
4.
Inspect the spark plug. Replace it if damaged, badly fouled, the sealing washer
is in poor condition or the electrode is worn.
5.
Check the gap with a spark plug gauge as shown in Fig. 14-2. If necessary,
reset the gap (See Specifications).

Correct the gap by carefully bending the
side electrode (Fig. 14-1). Check the gap after
each adjustment.
6.
Install the spark plug carefully by hand to avoid
cross threading.
7.
Tighten the spark plug to the recommended torque until
the gasket is compressed (Fig. 14-3). See Specifications
for the correct torque rating.
8.
Reconnect the spark plug lead to the spark plug.
9.
Replace the spark plug cover.

CARBURETOR ADJUSTMENT

The carburetor is low emission and is equipped with a non-adjustable idle
mixture valve. Only a qualified service technician should adjust the carburetor if
it is required.
