MAINTENANCE

The CED - CEM - CEW series of HITECSA air conditioning units do not require any particular maintenance
operations since all moving parts are supported by airtight and prelubricated bearings.
Only the following standard maintenance operations are necessary:
CLEANING OF AIR-FILTERS
The frequency at which the filters must be cleaned depends largely on the dirt and dust contained in the supply air. It is,
however, good practice never to allow more than 15-20 days to elapse between one cleaning and the next.
The high efficiency EU4 (standard on the units) filters can be cleaned with compressed air blown onto the filter in the
direction OPPOSITE to the airflow when in the A/C unit (air exit side).
If, on the other hand, a vacuum-cleaner is used, then the filter should be cleaned on the other side, where the air enters the
A/C unit (air entry side).
WARNING: The filters can be regenerated 3 or 4 times depending on their state, after which they must be replaced.
If the filters are too dirty, the result is:
* reduction of the airflow and of the cooling capacity
* excessive dehumidification
* possible frosting or freezing of the cooling coil
* activation of the low pressure switch and stop of the A/C unit
* possible damage to the compressor due to refrigerant not entirely evaporated returning as liquid.
In the case of BAG FILTERS (normally with efficiency of EU5 or above), these can not be regenerated and must always be
substituted. The filter can not be used when the pressure drop becomes too high - this is indicated by a differential
pressure switch which is an optional accessory on the unit (clogged filter alarm).
CLEANING OF HUMIDIFIER
These cleaning operations are necessarily more frequent during Winter than in Summer.
The frequency at which the humidifier must be cleaned is determined by the hours of operation and by the characteristics of
the water, in particular by the amount of scale that is deposited (hardness of the water).
It is, however, highly advisable to clean or if necessary substitute the humidifier cylinder (bottle) every 1 - 2 months
or 200 - 400 hours of operation.
If the interval is greater than that indicated above, one should also clean the solenoid valve (drain), the filter and the supply
nozzle and valve with its water pressure reducer. The frequency at which these operations are to be effected must be
increased during Winter.
Further information can be obtained from the Installation and Maintenance manual supplied by the humidifier manufacturer.
CLEANING OF CONDENSERS
Water-cooled condensers - Configuration 1 - 3 - 6.
The tubes or plates through which the water flows must be cleaned periodically in order to ensure optimum efficiency of the
condenser.
The frequency of the cleaning operation is determined by the quality and characteristics of the water and hours of operation.
The operation can be chemical cleansing or, in the case of tube condensers, by using brushes to clean the tubes internally.
It is also advisable to have the water analysed and to adopt an adequate water treatment system if necessary, in order to
avoid excessive coating, scale deposits, corrosion as well as formation of fungus, algae, etc.
