7. DATA TRANSFER AND PRINTOUT

The instrument has 2 interfaces:
Miniature USB
This connection point is located behind the display unit. It allows easy
connection to a PC for purposes of data transfer, updating, or diagno-
stics.
RS232
This port is located behind the height gauge. It provides a connection
point for external devices that are displayed via RS232 such as printers
or computers. It is also the port for wireless communications.
Comment:
The measured values are transferred in the same format and simulta-
neously via both parts.

7.1 Connection via miniature USB

A miniature USB cable is required to connect to a PC, and the DataT-
ransfer communication software program has to be installed on the
PC.

Software
The DataTransfer software is free and can be obtained from
Brütsch/Rüegger Tools AG or its representative
Data transfer procedure
1.
Start DataTransfer software
2.
Connect the instrument to the PC with the
cable (136600.6360) and wait until the connection is recognised.
Click the application to which the data is to be sent (e.g. Micro-
soft Excel)

Press the Data Transfer button. The value is transferred to the
marked location. Data can also be transferred automatically every
time a measurement is made (Chapter 9).
Format
The format of the transferred data corresponds to the digital value of
the display in the ASCII code format.
If both values are sent at the same time in diameter/centre distance
mode (Chapter 9), they are separated by a Line Feed (LF).
