Intended Use

Mains powered portable or bench-mounted power tool for cutting through wood and other
materials. Straight, bevel, mitre and compound (mitre & bevel) cuts. The included saw blade is
suitable for wood and man-made composite wood materials.
Unpacking Your Product
• Carefully unpack and inspect your product. Fully familiarise yourself with all its features and
functions
• Ensure all parts of the product are present and in good condition. If any parts are missing or
damaged, have such parts replaced before attempting to use this product
Before Use
WARNING: Ensure the tool is disconnected from the power supply before attaching or
changing any accessories, or making any adjustments.
Bench mounting
IMPORTANT: It is recommended to mount the saw to a bench or board. Although the saw can
be used without mounting to a bench or board it is not advised as there is a greater safety risk in
doing so.
• Mount the saw to a level, horizontal bench or work table using bolts, washers and locking nuts
(not supplied) through the four Bench Mounting Holes (10)
• DO NOT over-tighten the fixing bolts or use bolts that are not a good fit for the Bench Mounting
Holes as the base may crack and become damaged
• Alternatively, mount the saw on board at least 13mm thick, and clamp the board to the work
support. This makes it easy to reposition the saw
• When using a board it may be necessary to countersink the holes in the board so that any fixings
do not interfere with secure fitment to a works surface
IMPORTANT: Make sure the mounting surface is not warped as an uneven surface can cause
binding and inaccurate sawing
Fitting the Rear Stabiliser
• When the saw is not fitted to a bench or board, always fit the Rear Stabiliser (34). Attach the
Stabiliser to the saw via the Stabiliser Mounting Holes (25) using the Fittings (35) provided. The
Stabiliser helps prevent the saw from tipping in use
Dust extraction
• The Dust Bag (22) fits over the Dust Port (29). For most efficient operation, empty the Dust Bag
when it is no more than half full; this allows better air flow through the Bag
• Optimal dust extraction is achieved by connecting an external dust extraction system or vacuum
cleaner to the Dust Port. This may require the use of an adaptor (not supplied)
Transportation
1. When transporting or storing the saw, ensure the cutting head is latched down with the Cutting
Head Latching Pin (30) and all bevel and mitre locks are in place
2. DO NOT carry the saw holding movable parts as this may cause injury, use the Carrying Handle
(32)
3. If the saw is mounted to a bench or support, ensure the fixings are removed and the saw is
free to move
4. If the saw is mounted to a portable board, ensure the board is unclamped from the workbench or
support so the saw is free to move
5. When moving or transporting the saw, always keep upright
Operation
WARNING: ALWAYS wear eye protection, adequate respiratory and hearing protection, as well
as suitable gloves, when working with this tool.
Adjusting the mitre angle
• The Mitre Angle Locking Knob (18) is used to lock the table at the desired mitre angle. The mitre
saw cuts from 0° to 45° both left and right. To adjust the mitre angle:
1. Loosen the Mitre Angle Locking Knob
2. Rotate the mitre angle with the Main Handle (1) to the required angle using the Mitre Angle
Indicator (9) and Mitre Angle Gauge (11). The mitre table features positive click stops at 0, 5, 10,
15, 22.5, 30, 35, 40 and 45° both left and right for quick setting of common mitre angles
3. Retighten the Mitre Angle Locking Knob to lock the angle setting
WARNING: Be sure to tighten the Mitre Angle Locking Knob before making a cut. Failure to do
so could result in the table moving during the cut and cause serious personal injury.
Adjusting the bevel angle
The Bevel Angle Locking Knob (27) is used to set the Blade at the desired bevel angle. The mitre saw
bevel cuts from 0° to 45° to the left only.
DIY 1400W Compound Mitre Saw
To adjust the bevel angle:
1. Ensure the Mitre Angle Locking Knob (18) is tight
2. Loosen the Bevel Angle Locking Knob (27)
3. Tilt the cutting head with the Carrying Handle (32)
4. Use the Bevel Angle Indicator (28) and Bevel Angle Gauge (26) to set the correct angle
5. Retighten the Bevel Angle Locking Knob to secure in position
WARNING: Be sure to tighten the Bevel Angle Locking Knob before making a cut. Failure to do
so could result in the saw arm moving during the cut and cause serious personal injury.
Switching ON & OFF
• To turn the saw ON, depress and hold the ON/OFF Trigger Switch (2)
• To turn the saw OFF, release the ON/OFF trigger switch
Making a cut
• A compound mitre cut involves using a mitre angle and a bevel angle at the same time. It is
used to make picture frames, cut mouldings, make boxes with sloping sides, and for roof
framing
• Always make a test cut on a piece of scrap wood before cutting the workpiece.
1. Push the Release Lever (3) to the right and lift the cutting head to its full height
2. Loosen the Mitre Angle Locking Knob (18)
3. Rotate the Mitre Table (16) until the Mitre Angle Indicator (9) aligns with the desired angle on
the Mitre Angle Gauge (11)
4. Retighten the Mitre Angle Locking Knob
WARNING: Be sure to tighten the Mitre Angle Locking Knob before making a cut. Failure to do
so could result in the table moving during the cut, causing serious personal injury.
5. Loosen the Bevel Angle Locking Knob (27) and move the cutting head to the left to the desired
bevel angle (between 0° and 45°). Tighten the Bevel Angle Locking Knob
6. Place the workpiece flat on the Table with one edge securely against the Fence (8). If the
workpiece is warped, place the convex side against the Fence. If the concave side is placed
against the Fence, the workpiece could break and jam the Blade
7. When cutting long pieces of timber, support the ends of the timber with a roller stand or a work
surface that is level with the saw table
8. Use the Clamp (6) to secure the workpiece wherever possible.
Note: It is possible to remove the Clamp by loosening the Clamp Mounting Knob (7). It can then
either be removed or repositioned on the opposite side of the cutter head. Make sure the Clamp
Mounting Knob is tight before using the Clamp
9. Before turning the saw ON, perform a test run of the cutting operation to check that there are
no problems
10. Hold the Main Handle (1) firmly and squeeze the ON/OFF Trigger Switch (2). Allow the Blade to
reach maximum speed
11. Push the Release Lever (3) to the right and slowly lower the Blade into and through the
workpiece
12. Allow the Blade to stop rotating before removing the workpiece
13. Remove the Blade from the workpiece and release the ON/OFF Trigger Switch.

Maintenance
WARNING: ALWAYS disconnect from the power supply before carrying out any inspection,
maintenance or cleaning.
Changing the Blade
WARNING: Never attempt to use a Blade (20) larger than the stated capacity of the saw, as it
may come into contact with the Blade Guards (19 & 24). Never use a Blade that is too thick to allow
the outer blade washer to engage with the flats on the spindle; it will prevent the Blade Securing
Bolt (21) from properly securing the Blade onto the spindle. Do not use the saw to cut metal or
masonry unless the Blade is specifically designed for that material. Ensure any spacers and spindle
rings that may be required suit the spindle and the Blade fitted.
WARNING: Never fit and use a Blade that is visibly damaged, deformed or has dull or missing
teeth.
IMPORTANT: Wear gloves when handling Blades.
IMPORTANT: Even if the Blade is pre-fitted, if this is the first use of the tool always check the Blade
is securely fitted before use.
1. Ensure the cutting head is in its upper position
2. Disconnect the Lower Guard operating arm by removing the rotating blade guard screw (Image
A & B)
3. Press the Release Lever (3) and move the Lower Blade Guard (19) around and into the Fixed
Blade Guard (24) (Image C)
