Conformity with standards

The apparat is conform to the standards
specified in the EC-Declaration of conformity.
It has been designed, manufactured and
tested according to the state of the art and to
DIN EN ISO 9001.
94/9 EC: Equipment and protective systems
intended for use in potentially explosive
atmospheres.
The apparats fulfil further requirements, such
as the EC directive on electromagnetic
compatibility (2004/108/EEC)

Field of application

The distributions are suitable for use in hazar-
dous areas in Zones 1, 2 and Zones 21 and
22 in acc. with IEC 60079-10.
The materials used for the enclosures,
including the exterior metal parts, are high
quality materials that ensure an appropriate
corrosion protection and resistance to
chemical substances according to the
requirements for use in a "normal industrial
atmosphere":
- impact-resistant polyamide
- polyester reinforced with glass fibre
- stainless steel AISI 316 L.
In case of use in an extremely aggresive
atmosphere, please refer to manufacturer.

Application / Properties
The distributions are used for safeguarding,
controlling, switching and distributing electric
power, e.g. main, lighting, heating, control and
intrinsically safe circuits, etc. (See Technical
Data for temperature classes, explosion
groups, permissible ambient temperatures.)
For controlling electric machines and
installations in potentially explosive
atmospheres, the enclosures can be fitted
with control and indicating components that
have been certified for this purpose within the
scope of the approvals.
Specially marked control unit components can
be operated in "intrinsically safe circuits".
The electric limiting values applicable to
"intrinsic safety" shall be observed.
The function of circuit breakers and ELCBs
(RCDs) with circuit breakers shall be
checked after several short circuits.
An ELCB (RCD) does not prevent the
sensation caused by an electric shock, but it
limits the duration of the current flow through
the human body to such a short time that the
probability of a fatal effect is reduced to a
negligible amount.
Explosion-protecded distributions GHG 619
Once the cause for the tripping of the ELCB
(RCD) has been eliminated, it is reset by
switching the toggle to the "ON" position.
By cutting out the switch collar in the
respective locking position, the small control
switches can be locked with a padlocking
facility. (Ø lock shackle 5mm).
The front actuators of the Ex 23 control
switches feature a drilled hole, Ø 5.5mm, in
the respective locking position on the switch
collar and can, therefore, be locked with a
padlocking facility of the type mentioned
above.
When required, the Ex 28 and Ex 29 control
switches are provided with a locking facility
that also allows them to be locked with a
padlock.
Details of the electric contacts are given on
the base of the component.
The version with gold-tipped contacts is
marked with a "G" or with colour (see
Technical Data, pages 26-28, for max.
current load).
To ensure reliable isolation, the normally
closed contacts are designed as forced
break contacts (optional Ex 28/Ex 29 with
forced make contacts).
Where required, the bases are fitted with 0.6W
resistors, fine-wire fuses and diodes (max.
power dissipation 1W).
The measuring instruments AM 72 and AM
45 are used for the local indication of
electrical values. (See Technical Data, pages
27, for the type of movement, accuracy and
connections).
With measuring instruments for c.t.
connection n/1A (Fig. 4, item 2, page 28), the
interchangeable scales (Fig. 4, page 28) can
be exchanged via a flap on the upper part of
the measuring instrument.
Observe the rated diversity factors
accordance to IEC 60439 4.7 when equip
the distributions.
The data according to sections 3 and 4
shall be taken into account during use.
Applications other than those described
are not permissible without a written
declaration of consent from the
manufacturer.
During operation the instructions stated in
section 7 of the operating instructions shall
be observed. These operating instructions
also apply as instructions for the
replacement or addition to individual
flameproof components.
The sole responsibility with respect to the
suitability and proper use of these boxes
lies with the operator.

Installation

The relevant national regulations(e.g.
Betr.Si.V, the equipment safety law for
Germany) and the generally recognized rules
of engineering apply for the installation and
operation.
6.1

Mounting

The distribution enclosures can be mounted
without opening the cover.
When the boxes are mounted directly onto the
wall, they shall rest evenly only on the fastening
points provided for this purpose, and they shall
be fixed in such a way that they cannot twist or
turn.
The screw used shall match the fixing hole (see
dimension drawings) and must not damage
the opening (e.g. use of a washer).
Distributions in the sizes 1 + 2 shall be fixed
with a minimum of two diagonally opposed
screws.
Distributions in the sizes 3 + 4 shall be fixed
with a minimum of 4 screws.
The mounting of wall fixing lugs on stainless
steel distribution boxes is shown on page 28,
Figs. 5 + 6. The fixing lugs are not be loaded
with more than 50 kg.
Excessive tightening can result in damage
to the flameproof enclosure or the terminal
or bus bar box.
See the drawings and Figs. 1 - 3 on page 19
for the mounting of the bus bar connections.
The individual parts are enclosed loose in a
bag.

Warning: The connections for the
incoming and outgoing leads of the bus
bar systems shall be fitted in such a way
that the current load of the copper rails is
distributed evenly.
All minimum clearances of the bus bar
systems to the enclosure wall and between
the connections shall be maintained in
accordance with Figs. 2-3, page 19.
Individual moulded plastic distribution boxes
are suited for mounting on Size 3 apparatus
holders using self-tapping screws
(see Figs. 7 and 7a).
The mounting instructions for the apparatus
holder shall be observed.
