4. At a junction, follow the branch that indicates an abnormally high reading. A sudden
reduction in current between one point and the next will indicate the presence of a fault
between these two points.
5. Move back in the direction of the previous reading until the fault is located.
Notes:
Higher than normal current readings indicate short circuit faults. Lower than normal
current readings with the same voltage readings will most probably indicate arcing faults, faul­
ty insulators, a poor connection or broken wire.
Live fence alert tone
To turn the energiser on respectively off insert the fence wire into the fence wire remote slot,
ensuring that the fence wire touches the remote contact. To locate the remote contact see the
illustration of the Remote Control Fence Compass on page 46. The Remote Control Fence
Compass beeps each time the energiser pulses to indicate that the fence is live. If the power
supply to the fence has been switched off, the Remote Control Fence Compass will not beep.
Enabling and disabling the live fence alert tone

Backlight
The remote control has a backlight for better screen visibility when there is not enough day­
light. If required, this feature can be turned off to conserve battery life.
