1. SETTING THE APPLIANCE

GB
Place the appliance on a sufficiently large, horizontal, clean, moisture resistant
and dry work surface. Keep in mind that you will need some space for the food-
filled bags you wish to vacuum seal.
2. CONNECTING THE POWER PLUG
Plug the power plug into a suitable power outlet. Briefly, all buttons and control
lights light up. After a moment, only the Gentle, Dry and Single control lights
light up.
3. MAKING ADJUSTMENTS
Once the appliance is connected to the power mains, you should make the
desired adjustments. To do that, touch the corresponding function buttons.
3.1 Adjusting the evacuation speed with the Vacuum (I) button
To make vacuuming easier for you, the evacuation speed can be adjusted to the
food you wish to process. The standard setting is Gentle for pressure-sensitive
foods. If you want to seal normal robust foods, you should choose the Normal
function by touching the Vacuum (I) button. Evacuation is now performed
quicker. You can follow the vacuum process at all times and, if necessary, start
sealing whenever you want by touching the Manual Seal (E) button.
3.2 Adjusting the sealing process with the Food (J) button
With the Solis VertiVac Plus vacuum sealer, you can adjust the sealing process
to the moisture content of the food. You can choose between Dry and Moist
to always get a perfectly sealed weld.
Dry, the standard setting, is ideal for dry foods like e.g. biscuits, rice or coffee.
For slightly wet foods, touch the Food (J) button to switch to the Moist setting,
which is especially well suited to all foods that contain moisture (like e.g. red
meat or fish). Please refer to the notes given in the chapter "Tips for optimal
vacuuming" in this manual when processing foods with a high moisture content.
3.3 Adjusting the weld with the Weld (K) button
With the Solis VertiVac Plus vacuum sealer, you can choose between a Single
and a Double weld.
The Single weld is the standard setting and ideally suited to normal, dry foods.
If you require a double weld, e.g. when vacuuming moist foods, touch the Weld
(K) button to switch to the Double setting.

4. TIPS FOR USING THE VACUUM BAGS
There are differently sized Solis bags or vacuum films, allowing you to determine
the bag size yourself. Always choose a bag size that fits the food. Keep in mind
that the bag should be at least 8 cm larger than the food you wish to seal and
add another 2 cm for the weld.
Note: If you're using ready-to-use vacuum bags, you can jump to page 139
of this manual.

M ANUAL SEAL FUN CTI ON (E)
1. Open the appliance cover (1) and clip the cutting bar
(8) upwards. Place the vacuum film roll in the storage
chamber (7) (see fig. 1) and pull the end of the film
towards you.
2. Then, fold the cutting bar (8) back down, the film now
lies beneath it (see fig. 2).
Warning: When folding the cutting bar down, please
ensure that the blade lever is either to the far right
or the far left of the cutting bar. It must not be in
the middle, otherwise it won't cut the film properly
(see fig. 2).
3. Pull the film until it is the correct length for the
necessary bag and slide the blade lever in one stroke
to the left or right to the other end of the rail (see
fig. 3).
Now you can seal one end of the bag.
4. Close the appliance lid.
5. If required, use the double seal by touching the Weld
button, so that the Double control light lights up
(Single is the standard setting for a single weld).
6. Touch the Manual Seal (E) button, to choose the
sealing process.
