Prolonged use or hard water can cause after a short period of time limestone depos-
its to form in and on many functioning parts of your machine and reduce operating
performance – which, in turn, reduces the quality of the espresso.
This is why Solis recommends regularly (depending on water hardness but at least
once a month) descaling your Barista Gran Gusto espresso machine with a mixture
®
of SOLIPOL
special and water. Please use only SOLIPOL
for descaling the machine. Damages caused by the use of improper descaling agent
are not covered by warranty.

Proceed as follows:
1. Insert the portafilter (without ground coffee) into the brewing head. Pour a
®
mixture of SOLIPOL
special and water in a ratio of 1:1 into the water tank and
fill it to the MAX marking.
2. Connect the power plug to the socket.
3. Press the ON/OFF button and wait until all buttonframes steadily light up blue
and the machine has reached its operating temperature.
4. Place a large empty container underneath the brewing head or the portafilter
respectively and an empty milk jug underneath the steam / hot water outlet.
5. Do not press the steam mode button, the machine has to be in coffee brew
mode. The steam / hot water control is turned off.
6. Press the "manual mode" button and let ca. 150 ml of water flow through. Press
the "manual mode" button again to stop the function.
7. Press the steam mode button to activate the steam mode and wait until it is
lighting steadily.
8. Now turn the steam / hot water control counterclockwise into maximum position
and shoot out steam through the steam / hot water outlet into the empty milk
container for about 2 minutes (or directly in the drip tray).
9. Turn the steam / hot water control off again and press the steam mode button
again to return the machine into the coffee function.
10. Press the ON / OFF button to switch the appliance off. Let the descaling solution
sit for 15 minutes.
11. Switch the appliance back on after 15 minutes and repeat steps 5 to 10 at least
3 times until the descaling solution is almost used up.
12. When the descaling solution is almost used up, remove the water tank and
carefully rinse it with fresh water to flush out all the descaler residues, then refill
it with fresh tap water.
13. To rinse out the machine as well and to remove all descaler residues, please
repeat steps 5 to 9 until only a small amount of water remains in the water tank.

the socket.
15. Remove the water tank again, empty it and refill it with fresh tap water.

then dry it.

away immediately, as the agent might damage the surface.
