Working with the External Prommer

Using the external prommer you can read and program S5 EPROM/
EEPROM submodules via the 48–way programming interface and
SIMATIC memory submodules in credit card format (memory cards) via
the 68–pin connector.
EEPROMs and SIMATIC S5 memory cards can be erased with the external
prommer.
Proceed as follows to work with the external prommer:

1. Connect the external prommer.
2. Start the corresponding software package.
3. Plug either the S5 memory submodule into the 48-way programming
interface or a SIMATIC memory card onto the 68-pin connector.
4. Read, program or erase either the S5 memory submodule or your
memory card.
5. Terminate the EPROM function in your software.
6. Remove the S5 memory submodule or the memory card.
Warning
!
Working simultaneously with S5 submodules and
memory cards is not permitted. When the Busy
LED is lit on the external prommer, submodules
should not be plugged in or removed.
