Features of the LS120
Larger amounts of data can be stored on one data medium with the LS120 than with a 1.44 MB
floppy-disk drive.
The LS120 has the following features:
LS120 is compatible with 1.44 MB floppy-disk drives.
The maximum volume of data is 120 MB.
LS120 has an ATAPI interface.
Restrictions
P Tools under STEP 5
Data cannot be edited in PCP/M format on the LS 120 drive using P Tools under STEP 5.
Authorization with Authors Vx.x
In order to authorize STEP 5 and other SIMATIC components, start AuthorsW on the hard disk
from the taskbar under Start > Simatic > AuthorsW.

Updating the BIOS

A BIOS update must be performed after the LS120 is installed.
Notes:
Make sure that the power supply is not interrupted.
Do not switch the device off during the update procedure.
Do not interrupt the update procedure under any circumstances.
Proceed as follows:
1. Create a system disk on a 1.44 MB floppy disk with the command:
FORMAT A:/S/U
2. Copy the files onto the boot disk that you have created.
3. Boot the device from the system disk. The update is performed automatically.
4. When the system is rebooting, remove the disk and press F2 to enter Setup.
5. In the Exit menu, set "Get Default Values" and boot the programming device with "Save
Changes & Exit".
