8. Installation and Connection
8.1 Tips for Positioning the Wireless Alarm Control Centre and the
Wireless Sensors
• The alarm control centre itself should be mounted in a central location in the monitoring area in order to
maintain transmission distances as short as possible. A suitable location, for example, is in the hallway
of an apartment or a house.
•
Even better is to select a secure area as the mounting location, e.g. a separately lockable storage
cabinet.
•
In any case the alarm control centre must be placed in an area which is protected from the alarm
sensors sufficiently, as otherwise an intruder may be able to approach the alarm control centre and to
disable or destroy it.
• A wireless movement sensor recognises movements, if the intruder didn't enter via a window or doors
but rather enters the house or apartment via another method of entry (insecure skylights, cellar
windows etc). A room of a length of up to 10 metres can be secured with a wireless movement sensor.
• Don't forget the extensions or additional buildings like the garage, garden shed or bike shed when
securing your property with the alarm system. The wireless transmission and battery operated sensors
make securing areas very simple (sensors may not become damp or wet, with the exception of the
wireless movement sensor!).
8.2 Installation
8.2.3 Installation of the Wireless Alarm Control Centre
a) Instructions for selecting an installation location
• The alarm control centre and the mains power supply must be installed and operated in a dry interior
setting (i.e. not in a damp cellar or a bathroom). Ensure sufficient ventilation.
• Place the alarm system where a mains power supply socket (230V/AC 50 Hz) and a telephone
connection (for the internal alarm dialler) are available.
• Select a protected area to limit the chances of quick manipulation of the device by an intruder.
Mounting in a lockable storage cabinet would be ideal. The installation location should not be visible
from outside the house and should not be immediately visible from inside. Ultimately it needn't be
common knowledge where your alarm system is installed.
• The installation of the alarm control centre should not be carried out on or in close proximity to large
metal objects (radiators, mirrors, reinforced concrete wall, metal doors), as the transmission range will
be reduced.
• Do not position the alarm control centre in close proximity to heat sources.
