If any accumulator connector cables need to be cut to size (e.g. if the accumulator is supplied
without a connector plug), cut each cable individually to prevent a short circuit occurring. Risk of fire
and explosion!
b) additional information on lithium accumulators
Modern accumulators with lithium technology do not only have a clearly higher capacity than NiMH or NiCd rechar-
geable accumulator packs but they also have a considerably lower weight. This makes this type of accumulator very
interesting for application in model construction; so-called LiPo accumulators (lithium-polymer) are often used here.
LiPo accumulators (and the LiFe and LiIon accumulators that can be charged with the device) do require special
care however during charging/discharging as well as operation and handling.
For this reason, we would like to provide you with some information in the sections below about the dangers and
how you can avoid them, thus helping such accumulators to maintain their performance for a long time to come.
The exterior covering of a LiPo accumulator, consisting solely of a very thick film, is extremely sen-
sitive.
Never destroy or damage the accumulator, never let the accumulator fall, do not pierce the accu-
mulator with any objects. Avoid applying any mechanical loads to the accumulator, never pull on the
accumulator's connector cables! There is a risk of fire and explosion!
These guidelines must also be observed when the accumulator is inserted into the model (if the
model is removed, for example)
Ensure that the accumulator does not overheat during usage, recharging, discharging, transport or
storage. Do not place the accumulator adjacent to sources of heat (e.g. cruise control, motor), keep
the accumulator away from direct sunlight. There is a risk of fire and explosion if the accumulator
overheats!
The accumulator must not reach a temperature of more than 60°C (any other manufacturer warnings
must also be heeded as applicable!).
If the accumulator is damaged (e.g. after an airplane or helicopter model crashes) or the exterior
shell is inflated/swollen, do not continue to use the accumulator. Do not recharge it. There is a risk of
fire and explosion!
Only touch the accumulator with care, use suitable protective gloves.
Dispose of the accumulator in an ecologically sound fashion.
When charging a lithium accumulator with more than one cell, always use a so-called „balancer"
(one is already integrated into the supplied charger)
