IMPORTANT!
Risk of short circuit!
• Be sure to disconnect the battery before working on your
motorcycle's electrics—Risk of short circuit!
• Electrical and mechanical installation on the vehicle must be
carried out professionally. Incorrect installation can cause
short circuits or invalidate the type approval.
IMPORTANT!
Risk of damage!
• The electric cables must not be subjected to any tensile
forces, even when the steering is at full lock. The power
cables must be routed in such a way that they cannot chafe,
and they must not kink. If necessary, use a cable sheath or a
rubber cable feed-through.
• Any resistors that are installed may heat up during use and
therefore must not be installed in the direct vicinity of heat-
sensitive components or in closed housings. Depending on
how long they remain switched on the turn signals may reach
temperatures of 80°C or more. Only use resistors which have
a heat sink.

4.1 | Legal requirements regarding the installation of turn signals

Min.
240 mm
If the motorcycle was registered according to EC law (almost all vehicles first
registered from around 1998 onwards), the following measurements apply:
• Distance of at least 240 mm between the front turn signals (from inside edge
to inside edge of turn signal lenses), and each 75 mm from the headlight (from
inside edge of turn signal lens to outside edge of headlight lens), height above
the road surface 350–1200 mm
If the motorcycle is registered according to German law (older vehicles prior to
1998), please observe the following provisions in accordance with the German
Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO) during installation:
• Distance of at least 340 mm between the front turn signals (from inside edge to
inside edge of turn signal lenses), and each 100 mm from the headlight (edge
to edge)
• Minimum height above the road/ground 350 mm (bottom edge)

4.2 | Preparation

First of all, choose a well-lit place and use a suitable stand to make sure there
is no risk of your motorcycle toppling over. Then remove the existing mirrors
and the front indicator lights. Remember to check whether one of them has a
left-hand thread (e.g. the right mirror on Yamaha bikes). Left-hand threads are
generally identified by a notch on the hexagon of the nut.
Now you need to check the thread of the old mirrors and choose the correct
size of thread adapter from those supplied with the gazzini Mirror. Screw the
adapter into the base of the mirror. Motorcycles over 125 cc from other Japanese
manufacturers generally have a thread with a diameter of 10 mm and a pitch of
1.25 (written: M10x1.25). Newer BMWs with short threads tend to have a thread
diameter of 10 mm, but a pitch of 1.5. Suitable gazzini Mirror adapters for these
versions are also included.
0–75 mm
(Minimum distance,
depending on
luminous intensity)
