If the water level is too high, as can happen if the overflow is blocked or non-existent, the slat cover will be pressed
against the beam. This will prevent it from moving properly and will lead to serious damage to the slats and the mecha-
nical parts of the cover.
The cover should not be actuated when the water level is too low. When the water level is too low, the cover can rub
against, or get caught on, the separating pit wall or partition (if the pool is fitted with one) or on any support fittings or
hand-rails.
Lastly, excessively high or low water levels will modify the pool cover's opening and closing parameters (ends of travel
programmed when the cover is first installed).
NOTA BENE: The French standard NFP 90-308, concerning the design and safety of automatic pool covers, expressly
stipulates that pools fitted with such covers must be equipped with a separating pit wall (masonry or pre-fabricated),
isolating the cover pit containing the roller from the rest of the pool.
2.2. Water level - Aquadeck, Evodeck, Thermodeck or Igloo II
Pools fitted with AQUADECK, EVODECK, THERMODECK or IGLOO covers are frequently not equipped with a level
regulator or overflow.
How-ever, given the design of these pools (no cover pit), and assuming that there are no hand-rails or support fittings,
a water level variation of plus or minus 2 cm would be perfectly acceptable.
The user must monitor the water level in the pool to avoid the risks described in paragraph 2.1. above.
2.3. Opening and closing a slat cover.
It is absolutely vital to ensure that there is no-one in the pool before closing the cover and that no-one enters the pool
while the cover is being operated. Bearing this, and other safety considerations, in mind, the key switch must be instal-
led in a location allowing an unobstructed view of the pool.
In accordance with theh French standard NFP 90-308, the key switch be mounted on a fixed support (a wall, etc.).
Access to the switch must be protected by a lock and the key switch must require sustained contact while opening or
closing the cover.
Make sure that there are no objects floating in the pool (floatation device, ball, toy, etc.) that could hinder the correct
movement of the cover.
In the event that the pool is equipped with an automatic pool cleaner, make sure that its hose and mains cable will not
be caught in the slat cover as it winds around the roller.
Swimming under the cover is strictly prohibited.
NOTA BENE : The return fittings can generate a significant current at the surface of the water. The strength of this
current depends on the flow rate of the filtration pump. If this surface current could hinder movement of the cover, we
recommend that you stop filtration while operating the cover.
3. COVER MAINTENANCE
Regular maintenance/cleaning will be necessary to prevent any deterioration (stains, etc.) of the PVC slats that could
be caused by the stagnation of heavy matter on the slat cover (dead leaves, miscellaneous detritus, metallic objects
that can generate rust, etc.) or when the cover is allowed to become excessively dirty (calcium deposits, sun cream,
etc.).
The prolonged stagnation of organic matter on the slat cover can lead to the formation of stains of various colours that
can, in some cases, be permanent.
Clean the cover thoroughly at least twice a year, once on opening the pool for the season and again just before winte-
rizing. Use a warm water, high pressure jet and a product for removing limescale.
The cover should only be cleaned with recommended products suitable for this purpose.
