Basic safety instructions

Read the instructions through carefully and
completely before you install the fan or com-
mission it. Keep the instructions somewhere
safe.
• • • • •
Installation should only be carried out by
specialists with knowledge and experience of
ventilation technology.
• • • • •
Only qualified electricians are permitted to
make the electrical connections and / or repairs.
• • • • •
During assembly and electrical installation,
please take note of the valid regulations, in
particular DIN VDE 0100 and the corresponding
parts as well as accident prevention directives.
• • • • •
Details contained in the "Operating
conditions" chapter and on the rating plate
must be taken into account and adhered to.
• • • • •
Make sure the fan is completely disconnected
from all power sources before carrying out any
cleaning, maintenance and repair work.
• • • • •
Do not get too close to the unit with loose hair
or clothing as they may get caught up in it.
• • • • •
Do not insert any objects through the protective
grille.
• • • • •
Behave in a secure and danger-aware
manner in the area of the fan when it is in
operation.

Operating conditions

Installation location, installation position
The fan may only be installed with a horizontal
flow direction (see figure on Page 9), on walls,
girders, in ducts, etc. with sufficient load-bearing
capacity (motor foot pointing downwards).
Degree of protection
Only install the fan within the room, not in the
open air. Take note of the IP 55 rating.
Temperatures
The permitted airstream and ambient tempera-
ture range are from – 10 °C to + 50 °C.
Reversing mode
The fan can also be operated in reversing mode
(with air blown across the motor) – with approx.
35 % reduced volumetric flow.
Rated voltage and frequency
The fan may only be operated with the rated
voltage and power frequency as stated on the
unit's rating plate. Furthermore, the fan must be
protected against overload, by a suitable motor
protection switch, which must be supplied and
installed accordingly by the customer.
Star-delta switching
(Starting current limitation)
The following fan types must be started up using
the Star-delta starting procedure. DAS 90/4,
DAS 100/4, DAS 112/6 and DAS 125/6.
Speed control, frequency conversion operation
Speed control may only be carried out with a
suitable frequency converter type MFU, which
must be supplied and installed accordingly by the
customer. Please take note of the Operating
instructions supplied by the frequency converter
manufacturer.
In this case, the frequency converter handles the
motor protection. The output frequency of the
converter may not exceed 50 Hz. Speed control
using a transformer is not allowed.
Fixed electrical cabling
The fan may only be connected to a fixed
electrical installation. This must be fitted with a
mains isolation device that has contact openings
of at least 3.0 mm at each pole.
Air-ventilated fireplaces
If the fans are being used with air-ventilated
fireplaces, you must ensure that there is sufficient
flow of supply air. The maximum permitted
pressure difference is 4 Pa.
