instructions for further informati-
on. Older track cleaning locos
(before 3/98) have to be sent to
an LGB service station for deco-
der installation.
Sound Cars
These cars produce sounds like
steam or diesel loco sounds.
Factory Installation: The LGB
service stations will install deco-
ders in these cars for a fee.
Do-It-Yourself Installation:
you have a high degree of mecha-
nical and electrical ability, you can
install decoders in these cars
yourself.
Note: Cars with sounds that do
not vary with speed (track volta-
ge) (e. g. melody cars) do not
need to be equipped with a deco-
der to operate with the Multi-Train
System.
Further information about older
LGB locos and decoder installati-
on is available at www.lgb.de.

Programming the Decoder

Decoder-equipped locomotives
can be programmed with any
„address" between 1 and 8 using
the Train Mouse. Follow these
steps:
- Place the locomotive you
want to program on the track.
Remove all other locos from the
track layout.
- Set the loco address selector
on the Train Mouse to the desi-
red address.
- Set the speed/direction con-
trol to the „off" position.
- Press and hold the Emergen-
cy Stop button.
- Press the Reset button on the
Central Station. The left LED will
change from green to red and
back to green.
- Press one function button on
the Train Mouse. If the loco has
been programmed properly, it will
move a very short distance.
- Release the Emergency Stop
button. The Train Mouse LED will
continue flashing.
- Wait for the Train Mouse LED
to flash three times. Then press
the Emergency Stop button
once. Operate the loco to test the
programming.

Troubleshooting

- Locomotives do not work
reliably.
- Is the track wet or dirty? Wet and
dirty track can prevent com-
mands and power from reaching
the locos. Dry wet tracks. Clean
dirty tracks with a 20670 Track
Cleaning Locomotive, 50040
Track Cleaning Block, 50050
Track Cleaning Attachment or
50010 Smoke and Cleaning
If
Fluid.
- Both Central Station LEDs are
off. The system is not receiving
power.

connected to the Central Stati-

red. There is a short circuit.
- Has a train derailed?
- Is there a metal object lying
across the track?
- Is there a faulty connection or
cable?
- The left Central Station LED is
red, and the Train Mouse LED is
flashing. The system is overloa-
ded.
- Is the Central Station overhea-
ted? If the Central Station is too
warm, it will automatically stop.
When it cools, it will automatical-
ly restart. To avoid overheating,
operate fewer locomotives. Do
not block the ventilation slots.
Avoid high temperature environ-
ments.

green, but the system does not
work.
