Vibration emission level
(3 directions)
Uncertainty
The specified emissions values (vibration, noise)
– are used to compare machines.
– They are also used for making preliminary
estimates regarding vibration and noise loads
during operation.
– They represent the primary applications of the
power tool.
CAUTION
The noise emissions during actual use
of the power tool can differ from the
declared values depending on the ways
in which the tool is used especially what
kind of workpiece is processed.
- Identify safety measures to protect the
operator that are based on an estimation
of exposure in the actual conditions of use
(taking account of all parts of the opera-
ting cycle such as the times when the tool
is switched off and when it is running idle
in addition to the trigger time).

Power supply and start-up
The mains voltage must correspond to
the specification on the rating plate.
Switch (1.1) serves as an On/Off switch (I = On / 0
= Off). It may be latched with the locking knob on
the side (1.3) for continuous operation. Pressing
the switch again releases the lock.
Always switch the machine off before con-
necting or disconnecting the mains lead!
CAUTION
Heating of the Plug it connection if bayo-
net fitting is not completely locked
Risk of burns
- Before switching on the power tool,
make sure that the bayonet fitting at the
mains cable is closed fully and locked.
See Fig. 3 for connection and disconnection of the
power cable.

Electronics
The RS 200 EQ has an electronic control
with which the rotational speed can be
varied step-free.
This allows the sanding speed to be adapted to
the optimum level according to the material con-
cerned (see Chapter 6).
The speed is set using the rotary control button
(1.2).

5.1
Sanding dust is extracted through the extraction
channels in the sanding pad directly to the mate-
rial removal point.
a)
The machines are fitted with inboard extraction as
standard. The sanding dust is extracted through
suction openings in the sanding base (2.3) and
trapped in the turbo-filter (1.6). The turbo-filter
has to be changed when it is so full of dust that
the extraction power diminishes.
Inserting a turbo-filter
- Push the front cardboard section of the turbo-
filter with the sealing lip (1.5) onto the extraction
nozzle (1.9) of the filter holder
- Insert rear cardboard section with slot (1.7) onto
the retaining strip (1.8) of the filter holder
- Push the filter holder with its opening (1.10) as
far as it will go onto the extraction nozzle (1.11)
of the machine and clamp tight by turning rotary
knob (1.4).
b)
In order to avoid frequent changing of the turbo-
filter when carrying longer sanding jobs, it is
possible to connect a Festool extractor to the unit
instead of using inboard extraction. In this case,
the extraction pipe (Ø 27 mm) of the extraction unit
is connected to the suction nozzle (1.11).
5.2
The standard Stickfix sanding pad for Stickfix
abrasives can be replaced with a sanding pad for
clamping abrasives. Unscrew the six screws (2.1)
to do this.
Both sanding pads (with and without Stickfix coat-
ing) are also available with a side edge protector
to prevent the sanding base from degrading pre-
maturely when sanding corners.
12
Machine settings
Always remove the power supply plug
from the socket before carrying out any
work on the machine.
Dust extraction
Always connect the machine to a dust
extractor. Dust extractors prevent large
accumulations of dust in the air in the
working environment and dirt collecting
at the workplace.
Inboard extraction
External extraction by an extraction unit
