Electrical connection and operation

The mains voltage must correspond with the voltage
on the rating plate!
Always switch the machine off
before connecting or disconnecting the power
cable!
Risk of burns! Heating of the Plug
it connection if bayonet fi tting is not completely
locked! Before switching on the power tool, make
sure that the bayonet fi tting at the mains cable is
closed fully and locked.
Switch [1.2] is an on/off switch. For continuous use
it can be engaged with the lateral locking button
[1.1]. Pressing the switch again releases the lock.

If an extension cord is required, it must have suf-
fi cient cross-section to prevent an excessive drop
in voltage or overheating. An excessive drop in volt-
age reduces the output and can lead to failure of
the motor. The table shows the correct size to use,
depending on cord length and tool's ampere rating.

Cord size (AWG)
Use only U.L. and CSA listed extension cords. Never
use two extension cords together. Instead, use one
long one.
Note: The lower the AWG number, the stronger the
cord.
The LS 130 EQ has an electronic control with which
the rotational speed can be varied step-free. This
allows the sanding speed to be adapted to the op-
timum level according to the material concerned.
The speed is set using the rotary control button
[1.3].
The numbers on the rotary control button represent
approximately the following strokes per min:

Dust extractors prevent large accumulations of dust
in the air in the working environment and dirt col-
lecting in the workplace. In this case, the extraction
pipe (Ø 27 mm) of the extraction unit is connected
to the suction nozzle [1.4].
In order to be able to sand various profi les, Festool
offers shaped sanding pads (see Festool catalogue
or on the Internet under www.festoolusa.com).
These sanding pads can be changed quickly and
easily without tools.
