Disconnecting the battery:

Unscrew the nut (1) from black connection
cable (2) using two A/F 8 spanners and
remove the screw, washer and nut.
Detach and remove the connection cable
(2) from the battery negative (–) terminal.
Remove the cap (3). Unscrew the
connection of the red connection cable (4)
from the battery positive (+) terminal using
two A/F 8 spanners and remove the screw,
washer and nut.
Detach and remove the connection cable
(4) from the battery positive (+) terminal.

● Remove the battery if necessary.

● Reattach screws, washers and nuts to
the battery negative (–) and positive (+)
terminals for safe keeping.
● Install the steering column cover if
necessary. ( 13.16)
Connecting the battery:
The charge condition should be
checked before installation.
If the battery voltage is lower than
11.5 V, recharge the battery using a
battery charger before installation.
● Insert the battery. ( 13.18)
● If necessary, remove the screw, washer
and nut from the battery.
Step 1:
Attach the terminal connector of the red
connection cable (4) (+) to the battery
positive (+) terminal.
Insert screw (5) through the bore in the
positive terminal and through the bore in
the connection cable. Fit washer (6) onto
the screw (5) and screw on the nut (7).
Tighten the connection to a torque of
4-5 Nm using two A/F 8 spanners.
Step 2:
Fit cap (3) onto the connection.
Step 3:
Attach the terminal connector of the black
connection cable (2) (–) to the battery
negative (–) terminal.
Fit washer (6) onto the screw (5).
Insert the screw (5) through the bore on
the battery and attach the terminal
connector.
Screw on the nut (7) and tighten to a
torque of 4 - 5 Nm using two A/F 8
spanners.
Removing the battery:
● Remove the steering column cover.
