The power line must be fixed professionally in the mechanical room so that loose hanging of the
leads is prevented. Depending on the length and weight of the leads a cable holder must be fitted
every two to three metres.
The foundation/structure must have sufficient stability for a safe and functional fixation of the pump.
The operator is responsible for this.
A dry run is strictly prohibited. We recommend level control for this.
Use impact plates for the feed in the event of wet installation. With this you can prevent air
introduction into the pumped medium which leads to unfavourable operating conditions and
increased wear and tear.
5.2. Installation
When mounting the pump and its accessories work is carried out
directly at the edge of the basin! Carelessness or wrong footwear can lead
to falls. There is danger to life!
Take all safety measures to prevent this.
Attach the pressure line or the hose to the pump outlet and lay the pressure
line. When using a threaded hose or pipe connection the hose nozzle can be
cut off at the pump nozzle. In order to ensure optimum flow rate, the pressure
line should have a diameter of 1" or 1 ¼". In order to prevent backflow of the
water when the pump is switched off, a check valve can also be installed in the
pressure line. The pressure line must be fitted free of tension.
When using a hose, make sure that this is installed kink-free. When using
accessories, such as a quick coupling or similar, it must be ensured that these
are sealed with Teflon tape, since any leak will reduce the capacity of the pump.
Secure the pump on the handle with a cable or chain, and lower it into the
pumping medium. When using on muddy or sandy ground, the pumps should
be installed suspended from a rope, with the suction opening at least 30 cm
above the ground, so that the suction strainer is protected from obstruction.
Automatic float switch
If the water level rises to a certain maximum level (switch-on point), the float will automatically switch the pump
on. If the water level drops down to a certain minimum level during pumping (switch-off point), the float switches
off the pump.
The switching distance, i.e. the difference in water level between activation and deactivation can be determined
individually. For faultless operation, please follow the instructions below:
The mounting points and the length of the free end of the float cable must be set to the desired switching level. It
should be noted that the switch-on point of the pump is located below the intake line to prevent a backflow of the
pumping medium. The switch-off point must be above the upper edge of the pump housing, so that an air cushion
cannot form in the pump, which could make venting of the pump necessary.
In no event should the float and cable be thrown into the pumping medium, as correct switching is only possible
when rotating the float to the attachment point of the cable. Possible consequences if these instructions are not
followed include flooding (if the pump does not turn on), or destruction of the pump caused by dry running (if the
pump does not stop).
When using a separate float for starting or stopping the pump and the alarm, the switching levels should be
selected as above. The alarm float should switch about 10 cm above the pump activation point, but below the
intake.
Important: after each change of the float attachment it is necessary to check the proper function of the float switch
by performing a test run.
If the water is pumped from a narrow water reservoir, we recommend our dry running protection kit which includes
a control box and 3 electrodes (grounding, low water and high water electrodes) - available on request.
