Sharpening of blade

7.1. Description of the sharpening unit

1. Grindstone
2. Honingstone
3. Stop cam
4. Knob
5. Adjusting knob
6. Honing position
7. Shapren position
Warning !
Rotating blade ! Can sever fingers. Only use
the sharpening unit supplied along with the
machine for sharpening. The blade may be
sharpened by trained expert staff only.

7.2. Preparation

Clean the machine and the blade thoroughly (chap-
ter 5)

7.3. Putting on the blade sharpener

• Set the limit stop to the highest slicing thickness.
• Push the carriage to the middle position
• Set the blade sharpener to position 0 using the
adjusting knob.
• Place the blade sharpener on the limit stop and
push it to the blade until the stop lug of the blade
sharpener touches the blade ring.
• Place the blade sharpener with the thumb wheel
on the limit stop.

7.4. Sharpening the blade

• Switch on the machine with the green On button.

• Turn the adjusting knob to the grinding position
1. Grinding begins. The duration of grinding de-
pends on the condition of the blade.

7.5. Checking for burr

• Grind until a slight burr is formed.
• Switch off the machine with the red Off button.
• Take off the blade sharpener. Slide a sharpened
pencil slowly from the blade cover plate to the
cutting edge.
• Do you feel any resistance at the blade cutting
edge? That is the burr produced from sharpening.
• If there is no burr, continue sharpening and check
it again.

7.6. Removing the burr on the blade

• If a burr has formed on the blade edge, turn the
adjusting knob to the honing position (2).
• Allow the machine to run for a few revolutions
until the ridge is removed.
• After deburring, switch off the machine with the
red Off button.

7.7. Taking off the blade sharpener

• Turn the adjusting knob of the blade sharpener
to position 0.
• Undo the knob on the sharpener and carefully lift
it off.
• Fully close the thickness plate.
• Clean the machine and the blade of grinding dust
(section 5)

7.8. Changing the blade

Warning !
The blade is sharp ! It can cause serious inju-
ry even when it is not moving. The blade may
only be changed by a service engineer.
Important !
The blade must be replaced: - If the spacing
between the blade edge and the blade guard
ring exceeds 6 mm.
