Troubleshooting

Before working on the pump,
disconnect it from the electricity
supply by pulling the plug out.
The following tips for fault-finding
are best employed in the sequence
shown.
• Flow, pressure, or vacuum too low
– Compare the actual performance
with the figures in chapter 9.
– There is pressure on the pressure
side, and at the same time vacuum,
or a pressure above atmospheric,
on the suction side.
• The pump is not designed for this
condition.
– The cross-section of pneumatic lines,
or connected components is too
small, or they are restricted.
• To measure the performance,
disconnect the pump from the
system (small diameter tubing or
a valve can significantly affect
performance).
– There is a leak at a connector,
in a line, or in the pump head.
– Diaphragm or valve plates|sealings
are worn, or dirt is in the head.
• Section 6 Servicing.
• Pump is switched on, but does
not run, the on |off-switch on the
pump is not lit.
– Pump is not connected with the
power source.
– No voltage in the power source.
– Fuse in the pump is defective (only
authorized|qualified personnel
should investigate this problem; dis-
connect the pump from the power
source, the fuse is accessible after
opening the marked cover at the
bottom of the pump. Dimension of
the fuse: see section 9).
• Pump is switched on, but does
not run, the on |off-switch on the
pump is lit
– The heat sensitive circuit breaker
has cut in because of the pump
overheating (disconnect the pump
from the power source, let the pump
cool down, investigate the reason
for the overheating and irradicate
it).
• If the pump or the system does
not operate properly and you can-
not find any of the above faults,
send them to the Sartorius Service
Department.
• In order for Sartorius to repair the
pump, the customer must provide
a statement on the media which
were pumped and on pump clean-
ing. Please fill out the corresponding
Sartorius Stedim Biotech form, and
submit it together with the pump.

be found in the Appendix of these
operating instructions.

A Service Set contains all replace-
ment parts needed for one complete
service.
– Service Set contains:
1 diaphragm and 2 valve plates|
sealings.
