Cleaning and servicing the X-A40/CM polyurethane marking head
Minor service:
The tool should be cleaned at least once a day or after making a large number of markings
(approx. 5000 markings).
1. Remove the cartridge strip from the tool.
The following parts must be cleaned using the supplied brushes:

Inside the exhaust gas piston return unit
Major service:
A major service should be carried out every 10000 markings or when a piston sticks in the piston guide. First carry out the minor service as previously described, then:

Unlock the pushbutton on the grip section
and unscrew the exhaust gas piston return
unit.

Clean the two holes in the cartridge chamber
end-face using a small brush. Exhaust gas
piston return system must be cleaned out-
side and sprayed sparingly with Hilti lubri-
cant.
2. Take the tool apart, as described. (See «Changing the piston».)
3. Clean the parts with the supplied brushes.
4. Sparingly spray the piston with Hilti lubricant.
5. Reassemble the parts of the tool. (See «Changing the piston».)

Clean and spray the spring.
Clean inside the housing.
The use of cleaning sprays containing oil is
recommended. This protects metal surfaces
against corrosion.

Clean the left and right-hand cartridge strip
guideway twice, using the enclosed scraper.
