1. Introduction

The IQ Com is a communication adapter meant to connect a Simco-Ion Chargemaster CM5 to a
Manager IQ Easy.
There are two M12 connectors on the front of the IQ Com. The male M12 connector is used to
connect the IQ Com to the Manager. The female M12 connector is used to connect the IQ Com
to the machine-interface / PLC. The LED between these two M12 connectors indicates the
status of the IQ Com.
An 25-pole connector is provided on the back of the IQ Com, this is used to make a connection
to the Chargemaster CM5.

2. Description and operation

After connecting the IQ Com to the Manager, the IQ Com will launch and set up a connection to
the Manager IQ Easy.
When the Chargemaster is connected to the IQ Com, the Chargemaster can be operated from
the Manager. This requires some parameters have to be set on both the IQ Com and the
Chargemaster.
Optionally, the IQ Com can also be connected to the machine-interface / PLC. The following
connections on the connector are provided for this purpose:
- HV OK output
- Analog remote on / off input
- 24V DC, 100mA output to be used with the analog remote on/off input

3. Safety

The following safety guidelines must be observed in order to prevent physical injury and
damage to objects or the IQ Com itself.
Warning:
- Read also the safety and installation instructions of the connected Simco-Ion Chargemaster
CM5 and the Manager IQ Easy.
- Electrical installation, maintenance and repair must only be carried out by a skilled electrical
engineer and in accordance with national and local regulations.
- The equipment must be properly earthed. Earthing is needed to ensure safe and proper
operation.
- Disconnect the power supply before carrying out work on the unit.
- Use the IQ Com only in conjunction with matching Simco-Ion IQ Easy equipment.
- Keep the IQ Com free from dirt, dust and moisture to ensure its safe operation.
- Do not use the IQ Com with the IQ Easy device in fire or explosion hazard areas.
- The unit may only be repaired by Simco-Ion employees.
