Before you begin...
Intended use
This product is intended for grillable food items (meat,
fish, vegetables, etc.).
The product is not designed for commercial use. The
generally recognised accident prevention regulations
and enclosed safety notes must be observed.
Only perform work described in these instructions for
use. Any other use is improper. The manufacturer will
not assume responsibility for damage resulting from
such use.
What are the meanings of the symbols used?
Danger notices and information are clearly marked
throughout these instructions for use. The following
symbols are used:
DANGER! Direct danger to life and risk of
injury! Directly dangerous situation that may
lead to death or severe injuries.
WARNING! Probable danger to life and risk
of injury! Generally dangerous situation that
may lead to death or severe injuries.
CAUTION! Possible risk of injury! Danger-
ous situation that may lead to injuries.
NOTICE! Hazard resulting from damage to
the product! Situation that may lead to prop-
erty damage.
Note: Information to help you reach a better
understanding of the processes involved.
Safety information
• The user of the product must have read and under-
stood these operating instructions prior to its first
use to ensure the safe handling of this product.
• Observe all safety instructions! Failure to do so may
cause harm to you and others.
• Retain all instructions for use, and safety instruc-
tions for future reference.
• If you sell or pass on the product, you must also
pass on these operating instructions.
• Never grill in enclosed spaces and maintain a suffi-
cient distance from house walls, awnings, trees,
plants and flammable objects.
• At the barbecue fire, never touch the holder or the
plank with your bare hands. Always use heat-resist-
ant barbecue gloves.
• Please keep children away from the fire while pre-
paring the grilling plank/smoking plank.
Preparation
Oiling the plank
1. To ensure that the wood withstands the heat, coat
the plank generously with cooking oil (e.g. rapeseed
oil or sunflower oil) and let it soak in. The plank
should be coated with a bit of oil each time it is used
for grilling.
Bending the hooks
2. There are two hooks at the end of the metal fish
bone. Bend them down about 45° so that they fit just
over the bottom edge of the plank.

3. Now, place the food to be grilled on the plank and
slide the metal fish bone onto the plank from one
side as shown in the illustration and attach it to the
other side using the fastening clip.

The clip has three snap-in steps with which the width of
the metal fish bone can be adjusted.

4. To remove the metal fish bone, release the clip as
shown in the illustration.
Note: The clip can easily be released by pull-
ing on it lightly with your thumb.
CAUTION! Hot! Use grilling gloves or wait
until the clip has cooled off.

5. Assemble the plank support by following the illustra-
tion and tighten the butterfly nut firmly.
Adjusting the angle of inclination
6. To adjust the angle of inclination, lift the plank
slightly and snap it into one of the three steps.
CAUTION! Hot! Use grilling gloves.
7. For a negative angle of inclination, take the plank
out of the support and rotate the support by 180°.

8. Assemble the plank support by following the illustra-
tion and tighten the butterfly nut firmly.

9. Put the plank support on the grill/fire bowl.
10. Insert the grilling plank with the salmon into the sup-
port.

11. To adjust the angle of inclination, lift the support
slightly by the crossbar.

12. Press down on the crossbar of the support and pull
the plank out of the support.
13. Rotate the plank headlong and insert it back into the
support.
Wetting the plank
14. To ensure that the wood releases its aromas in the
grill's heat, the wood should be placed in water
approx. 2 hours before use. The water dissolves the
aromatic substances from the wood.
Note: Depending on your preference, the
water can be aromatised with beer, wine or
whisky.
