SPECIFICS FOR USING ACTIVATED CARBON
Activated carbon is capable of fixing certain solids or impurities in a more or less irreversible manner (organic
matter, iron and H
S in particular).
2
Activated carbon loses its efficiency more or less quickly depending on the impurity content in the water and
the volume of water treated.
It is therefore necessary to regularly replace the active filter media using the procedure described below.
Automatic washing should be carried out more frequently if the water to be treated has a high TH, Total
Alkalinity Index or iron content.
SPECIFICS FOR USING NEUTRALITE
The neutralization of excess CO
active mass.
It is therefore necessary to inspect it on a regular basis, and add more filter media whenever the level of the
active layer decreases by 15 to 20 cm. This inspection must be done at least once every quarter during the
first year, this frequency should then be adjusted accordingly depending on the amount of active mass
consumed.
The washing frequency should never be more than 3 days to avoid the risk of solidifying the neutralizing
medium.
SPECIFICS RELATING TO IRON REMOVAL USING MANGANESE SAND
Manganese sand is capable of fixing iron and manganese oxide deposits in a more or less irreversible manner.
Manganese sand loses its efficiency more or less quickly depending on the impurity content in the water and
the volume of water treated. It is therefore necessary to regularly replace the active filter media using the
procedure described below. Automatic washing should be carried out more frequently if the water to be
treated has a high iron + manganese total content. The washing frequency should never be more than 7 days
even if there is no significant pressure loss. It can be 1 day if the filter is used intensively.
REPLACING THE ACTIVE FILTER MEDIA
The active charge may need to be replaced regularly depending on the volume of water treated, the iron
concentration in this water and other clogging elements in the water. Since the frequency cannot be
determined precisely, it will be necessary to replace the load when the filter fails to perform its function
correctly.
1)
Isolate the filter and set to rinse for a few seconds to decompress it.
2)
Disassemble the filter valve. To prevent the dip tube from lifting during this operation, it is
recommended to first separate the valve body from its base (12 bolts).
3)
Use a flexible tube with an internal diameter of at least 20 mm and insert into the active filter media
bed and siphon to drain the medium.
4)
Once the siphon has been initiated, turn the water back on slowly.
5)
Use the siphon to empty the active filter media and all or part of the support layer.
6)
Reload it.
content in the water to be treated leads to a normal dissolution of the
