2.1 About this chapter

• Keep this documentation in a location where it is accessible to all users at all

2.2 Intended use
Applications
• The product is intended for solely for professional use.
• The product is exclusively intended to be installed in an end product (a sys-
tem/machine) or to be assembled with other components to form an end
product.

2.3 Improper use
The product is not intended for use in explosive areas (explosion protection).
2.4 Obligations of the operator
• The owner must ensure that persons who assemble, operate, disassemble, or
maintain products must not consume any alcohol, drugs, or pharmaceuticals
that may affect their ability to respond.
• The owner must ensure that PPE is used. Observe all specifications for the
overall system.

2.5 Personnel qualifications
Only personnel qualified for the tasks at hand are allowed to perform the activi-
ties described in this documentation. Depending on the activity, this requires ba-
sic knowledge in the following areas and knowledge of the relevant technical
concepts:
• Pneumatics
• Electrics
2.6 Hazards
2.6.1 Material damage
Damage due to too high mechanical loads
• Never twist or bend the product and add-on parts, or mount them when they
are under tension.
• Do not use the product as a handle or step.
• Do not position any objects on the product.
Damage caused by electrostatic discharge
Contact between people or objects and electrical product components can cause
electrostatic discharge (ESD), which then damages or destroys the product. Take
the following measures to prevent ESD:
• Observe handling instructions and recommendations as per EN 61340-5-1
and EN 61340-5-2.
Damage due to control network malfunction
Products with Ethernet connection are designed to be used on specific industrial
control networks. Observe the following safety measures:
• Always follow industry best practices for network segmentation.
• Avoid exposing products with Ethernet connection directly to the Internet.
• Minimize internet and business network exposure for all control system de-
vices and/or control systems.
• Ensure that products, control system devices and/or control systems are not
accessible from the Internet.
• Locate control networks and remote devices behind firewalls and isolate them
from the business network.
• If remote access is required, only use secure methods such as Virtual Private
Networks (VPNs).
NOTICE! Recognize that VPNs and other software-based products may have
vulnerabilities. A VPN is only as secure as the connected devices it serves. Al-
ways use the current version of the VPN, the firewall and other software-based
products.
• Ensure that the latest released software and firmware versions are installed on
all products connected to the network.

4.1 Transporting the product
Hazards during transportation
• Proceed with caution and observe the information on the packaging when un-
loading and transporting the packaged product to the destination.
• Take steps to avoid damage when lifting the product.
4.2 Storing the product
Damage due to incorrect storage
Unfavorable storage conditions can result in corrosion and material deteriora-
tion.
• Only store the product in locations which are dry, cool, and prevent corrosion.
• Protect the product from direct sunlight and UV radiation.
• Keep the product in its packaging until the time of installation.
