Motor overload protection, Elgard
The motor overload protection engages if the motor has
too high load or the drill bit cannot move freely.
The motor overload protection causes the power from
the motor to decrease and increase in short intervals for
some seconds. Then, if you do not decrease the force,
the motor stops. Refer to
protection on page 18 .
Friction clutch
The friction clutch is integrated in the gearbox of the
product. It prevents damage to the product if the drill
bit stops during operation. If the load is too high, the
friction clutch is released and stops the drill spindle
but keeps the motor on for some seconds. The friction
clutch engages again if the load is decreased and the
operation can continue. If the drill bit is caught in the
material and fully stops, the friction clutch stops the
motor immediately.
CAUTION:
time of the clutch is not more than 3-4
seconds, because if not wear and heat will
increase quickly.
