q) Mounting the Motor
The model is designed for a powerful electrical drive. These operating instructions indicate all work steps required for this. The cell's solidity does,
however, permit operation with a combustion engine as well. Installation of a combustion engine must take place according to your own discretion.
Required accessories are not included with the kit and must be purchased separately. For notes on recommended motor sizes, see chapter
„Technical Data" at the end of these operating instructions.
Install the motor and speed controller to the motor dome as shown in
figure 7.
To be able to later set the motor inclination and side pull, as well as the
distance between spinner rear plate and motor cowl precisely, we
recommend an adjustable version as motor holder.
Since motor inclination and side pull depend on the performance range
of the motor used and the rotor used, these instructions cannot provide
any concrete note in the required settings.
The best values for your model must be found out by flying starting
from a basic setting (1.5° inclination, 2.5° side pull).
r) Mounting the Motor Cowl
Due to the many options (electrical drive, combustion engine, large or small motors, etc.), these operating instructions cannot make any concrete
indication for adjustment of the motor cowl and transfer to the spinner. Therefore, adjust the motor cowl from the construction set to the individual
situation at your own discretion. Observe sufficient cooling independently of whether you choose an electrical drive or combustion engine!
The motor cowl is attached to the fuselage with 4 screws M3 x 12 mm.
Two screws are at the top of the canopy area (fig. 8, item 1) and two
screws are at the bottom of the canopy (fig. 8, item 2). The lower holes
still have to be drilled.
Practical advice:
To be able to drill the perfectly matching holes for the lower screws of
the motor cowl, attach two paper strips with adhesive tape to the fuselage
with the motor cowl removed.
The paper strips must be attached so that the thread inserts at the
motor mounting plate can be marked on the paper strips.
Then fold the paper strips back again, apply the motor cowl and mark
the drill holes at the motor cowl as indicated on the paper strips.
