9.1. Maintenance advice for the
trade
Maintenance must be carried out in accordance with the Bischoff &
Bischoff maintenance plan. A maintenance schedule will be provided
upon request. A training programme for the specialised trade is also
available.
9.2. Adjustment work for the trade
The settings explained in this chapter affect safety-relevant criteria of
37.
your product and may therefore only be carried out by trained specialist
personnel.
9.3. Centre of gravity, seat angle
and Seat height
9.3.1. Adjusting the drive wheel
The position of the drive wheel influences the driving behaviour of
your wheel chair.
Change the position of the drive wheel:
38.
Vertical: Adjusting the seat height and the seat angle (Fig. 37).
Horizontal: Adjustment of the centre of gravity position (Fig. 38).
Seat slope
Horizontal or forward-sloping seat: mount the thru-axle mount in
the lowest position. However, the seat angle sloping forwards also
depends on the position of the front wheel.
If the seat slopes steeply backwards: fit the thru axle mount in the
top position. In this position, the seat angle and centre of gravity
are shifted backwards and the wheelchair can tip backwards more
easily
Adjustments to the drive wheels may increase the risk of tipping over.
Use the anti-tip castors for safety!

By changing the seat angle, there is a risk of tipping
over and thus an increased risk of injury.

9.3.2. Height of the front wheel
After you have adjusted the rear wheel position, now check the
position of the steering wheels and adjust them if necessary.
Loosen the axle and remove it completely (Fig. 39).
Position the steering wheel for the desired seat height.
Put the axle back into the caster fork and tighten it.
Set the steering axle perpendicular to the ground to achieve
straight running and safe driving behaviour.
9.3.3. Angle of the steering axle
By changing the drive wheel position or that of the front wheel, the
angle of the steering axle can also change. However, this must always
be at a right angle (90°) to the ground (Fig. 40).
Release the castor bushing lock by loosening the two screws on the
outside (Fig. 40). Fine adjustment and fixing in the specified positi-
on is done by the pin screws inside the castor bushing.
Move the front wheel to the desired position and then tighten the
fastening screws.
Further details can be found in the assembly instructions.
9.3.4. Wheelbase
Extending the wheelbase improves the stability and sturdiness of the
wheelchair. Reducing the wheelbase, on the other hand, improves ma-
noeuvrability. Reducing the wheelbase is only recommended for expe-
rienced drivers.
If the wheelbase is changed, subsequent adjustment
of the knee lever brake is absolutely necessary!
