• If the opposing team receives the ball, they
may touch it a maximum of three times before
the ball has to be played back on to the net.
• After a point has been scored, the next player
on the same team serves.
• If the serving team makes a mistake, the op-
posing team gets a point and then serves next.
Scoring
• If the ball was not played on to the net after
being touched three times at the most by your
team, the opposing team gets a point.
• If the ball hits the edge of the net, this is a fault
both during the game and during the serve.
The opposing team gets a point for this.
• If the ball touches the net twice, this is a fault
by the team playing the ball.
• If the ball rolls on the net and doesn't bounce
up, this is a fault. The opposing team gets a
point for this.
• If the ball touches the ground, the team that
is currently taking their turn loses a point. The
other team then serves next.
Foul
In pitch ball, a fouls is not always automatically
a fault for which points are awarded. A foul
during the serve is a move that makes it unnec-
essarily difficult for the opponent to receive the
ball. This often doesn't happen intentionally.
Therefore, only the second foul is classed as a
fault and only then is the opponent awarded a
point.
The following actions are classed as a foul:
• The ball is dropped when served or missed
when hitting it.
• The player crosses the service line (approx.
1.80m in front of the net) when making the
serve.
• The ball is played with both hands.
• A defender plays the ball even though it is the
attacking team's turn.
• After the ball bounces up off the net, a player
hits himself or his teammate with the ball.
• A player touches the net and moves it or
affects the trajectory of the ball.
• The serve should bounce off the net cleanly.
If the ball makes an unforeseen change in
direction ('pocket') and/or only touches the
net and then hits the edge and falls down, the
receiving team must say 'Foul' before they
receive the ball or it touches the ground.
