Follow the operating instruc-
NOTICE
tions given in this manual!
You should also refer to the operating instruction
manual provided with the other items of equip-
ment delivered to you!
The reactor system must be operated under a clo-
sed fume hood or behind a protective screen!
The reactor must only be used with hte safety dis-
connector supplied. The safety disconnector ensu-
res that the system can be completely disconnectet
from the mains power supply when required!
Only connect the laboratory stirrer and the dis-
perser drive to the multi-socket. The multi-socket
is mounted on the back of the equipment and is
connected to the safety disconnector.
Fit the safety disconnector!
Any reaction vapour released at the reactor cover
must be extracted!
The device will not restart automatically after a
power failure. You must switch the safety dis-
connector back on.
Cleaning
When the laboratory reactor is
NOTICE
open the reactor vessel can be
completely removed from the
reactor so that the interior can
be cleaned.
Remove the device from the mains
before cleaning.
The axially inserted anchor stirrer can be removed from
the stir shaft with a quick downward pull. The Teflon scra-
pers (LR 2000.10 anchor stirrer) can be removed from the
anchor stirrer for thorough cleaning.
If no additional devices such as ULTRA TURRAX, tempe-
rature sensors or flow breakers are installed, the reactor
cover can be unscrewed from the stirrer shaft bearing for
cleaning.
The circlips required are supplied with the laboratory reac-
tor.
The assembled shaft holder is replaced by a standard
Circlip
ground connector in the reactor cover.

The IKA LR-2.SI has an EMERGENCY STOP button and also
a safety disconnector which provides an alternative means
of shutting down the power supply circuit when the reac-
tor cover is open. This protects you from rotating elements
such as anchor stirrers or dispersing elements.
The glass reactor vessel must always be fully immersed in
the tempering unit. With this equipment configuration you
must ensure that any vapours released from the tempering
bath are extracted.
Maintenance and cleaning
First remove the connector components, the connectors for
the additional devices and pull the protective ring off the
stir shaft on the cover. The stirrer shaft and the protective
ring can also be cleaned now.
All O-rings can now be carefully removed by hand or using
a blunt tool.
The socket used must be earthed
(fitted with earth contact).
Secure the reactor vessel using the lock ring on the
reactor cover.
Connect the power supply cables to the mains supply.
Switch on the safety disconnector by pressing the
green button.
Start the laboratory stirrer.
