PLACE OF INSTALLATION
The electric pump must be positioned vertically, checking that the pumped liquid does not contain or could
generate gaseous and/or explosive mixtures. Make sure that the bottom of the well is made up of a rigid
and not muddy surface (in the latter case it is advisable to keep the pump raised from the bottom by
means of a chain). The collection tank must be of such dimensions that the useful volume limits the
starts/hour to a maximum. In the case of pumps equipped with a float for automatic starting, make sure
that there are no impediments to its movement.
INSTALLATION WITH COUPLING FOOT
The KAIMAN and AQUILA series pumps also provide for fixed installation by means of a coupling foot.
In this case proceed as follows:
•Fix the coupling foot to the bottom of the tank using expansion bolts.
ATTENZIONE!
•Install the delivery pipe with the relative non-return valve and gate valve positioned if possible in
horizontal sections that are easily accessible. (the gate valve must be mounted downstream of the non-
return valve)
•Engage the two guide tubes on the coupling foot, fixing them in the part using the special tube guide
bracket.
•Fix the coupling slide to the electric pump and lower by means of a chain or rope, fixed to the eyebolts
and/or handle. By means of the guide tubes the pump will couple correctly to the foot.
The lighting of the installation area of any starter panel must comply with the laws in force in the country
where the machine is installed and must in any case guarantee good visibility at all points, not create
dangerous reflections and allow the clear reading of the control panels, as well as the identification of
the emergency buttons: it is recommended that the minimum illuminance is 400lux.
When pumping toxic, or high temperatures, they have to take all necessary precautions to avoid any loss
and / or leakage could cause damage to people, animals, or the environment: the use and installation of
containment basins is recommended.
CONNECTING THE PIPES (See pictures 6-6a Page 7)
Pipes must be suitable for the pump maximum working pressure.
The diameter of the pipeline must not be smaller than the diameter of the pump mouth.
The piping must not transmit stresses to the pump due to its own weight and/or thermal expansion, on
WARNING!
pain of possible loss of liquid or pump breakage. Therefore the pipeline must be supported by anchors.
Install a non-return valve on the delivery side to prevent any return of the pumped liquid and a shut-off
valve to regulate the flow rate.
ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS
Connection to the mains must only be carried out by a trained and authorized operator in compliance with
local and national regulations If extension cords are used, the junction must remain dry and, to avoid
excessive voltage drops, the cable must have an adequate section.
MAKE THE EARTH AND EQUIPOTENTIAL CONNECTION BEFORE ALL OTHER CONNECTIONS.
Remove dirt or paint residues from the connection terminal of the earth connection. Perform a functional
check of the control equipment (float, etc...) The installer must also take care of the interference
evaluation between the pump and the switchboard (when required).
CHECKS ON THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Check in particular:
The following must also be present:

•
the existence of the electrical grounding line and its continuity until the motor is connected,
•
the presence of an emergency stop button (if the risk assessment of the machine / system where
the pump will be installed provides for it).
•
an automatic interruption device of the power supply line coordinated with the power supply
system itself which intervenes in the event of an earth fault (indirect contacts);
•
a thermal protection device adjusted to a maximum absorbed current not exceeding 5% of the
rated current and with an intervention time of less than 30 seconds.
