FILLING ENGINE OIL
Check the engine crankcase oil level daily or after every 5 hours
operation. It is essential that the oil level be maintained in the
"'safe'' operating range as shown in Figure 8 at all times or
serious engine damage could result.

DIPSTICK

To check the oil,.stop engine and wipe. all. dirt and dust from
around the dip stick, Figure 9. Pull dip stick out, wipe off the ой,
re-insert dip stick and push it down tight: Pull the dip stick out
г and observe. the oil level. Add sufficient oi! of the proper viscosity
to bring the oil up to the ''FULL'' (Е) mark, see Figure 8. Be
sure tractor is level to correctly read dip stick. Do not overfill. Oit
'level must-never exceed, full mark.

CHANGING ENGINE OIL
Use high quality detergent type oil with service designation SC,
CC, SD or SE. Oil weight (SAE-viscosity) is selected according to
the anticipated temperature in the area of engine operation. Refer
to Engine Manufacturer's Instructions for oil.
When the tractor is new, the oil should be changed after the first
5 hours of operation.
Under normal operating conditions, the oil should be changed
every 25 hours of operation. If extremely dusty or dirty condi-
tions prevail, change oil more frequently. See Engine Mánufac-
turer's Instructions.
|
Drain the crankcase by removing the drain plug, shown.in Figure a
10, and allow the oil to drain into a container: 1f possible, run
engine just prior to changing oil, as the oil will flow more freely
_and carry away more contamination when hot: .

Replace drain plug. Remove
dip stick and refill crankcase.
Check oil on the dip stick to see that the oil level is at the
"FULL"
(Е) mark. Do not overfill. Single cylinder models re-
quire about 2 quarts of oil. Twin cylinders require about 3 pints
of oil.
TRANSMISSION OIL GRADE AND VISCOSITY
A standard type 5W-30 or an equivalent detergent type motor oil
meeting the requirements of the American Petroleum Institute e
(А.Р.1.) Service Classification SE should be used. Change
hydrostatic transmission oil from 5W-30 to SAE 30 if the ambient
temperature is above 80°F and the tractor is to be worked hard
(such as plowing, tilling or when the lift is used to capacity caus-
ing the pump to be under high pressures and temperatures).
