Replacing trimmer line
Before replacing the trimmer line, always switch off the
motor and disconnect the power cable!

Press the spool button (B/1) and pull the old trimmer line
out of the trimmer head.

Cut 2 lines (dia. 2 mm x 15 m, order No. 369 224 660) to 2
meters (6.5') length each.

Move the arrow (B/2) on the spool button so that it points
to the markings (B/3) on the cover.
Note: Before inserting the line ends into the trimmer head,
bend them to be straight over a length of 3 - 4 cm (1-2") (see
illustration).

Insert the line ends vertically about 2.5 cm (1") through the
line guides.
Note: After about 2.5 cm (1") you should feel the line meet
resistance. If this is not the case, re-insert the line.

Turn the spool button (B/1) in the direction of the arrow
(stamped on the housing cover) until only about 15 cm (6")
of each line protrudes from the trimmer hed.
Servicing and maintenance
We recommend that a comprehensive maintenance and in-
spection be performed at regular intervals. Any maintenance
or adjustment work not described in this manual may be
performed only by a MAKITA service location.

Cleaning the trimmer head

Press the spool button (B/1) and pull the trimmer lines out
of the trimmer head.

Press the tab (C/9) and turn the housing cover (C/4) as far
as it will go (lug on cover (C/5) centredon the tab).

Remove the housing cover (C/4) from the housing (C/8),
remove the spool (C/6) and spring (C/7) from the housing.

Clean all parts with a soft brush.
-
Place the spring and spool back in the housing.
-
Position the housing cover (C/4) with the lug on the cover
(C/5) pointing to the tab (C/9) and press evenly onto the
housing (C/8).

Turn the housing cover against the housing until you hear
the tab (C/9) click into place.
