Transport

During transportation or carrying, and when changing work
locations, switch off the trimmer to prevent the strimmer
head from starting unintentionally.

Never carry or transport the electric trimmer while the
trimmer head is rotating!

When transporting the trimmer in a vehicle make sure the
trimmer is in a secure position.
Storage
-
Store the trimmer in a dry space, inaccessible to children.
Maintenance

Regularly clean out any grass that accumulates between the
trimmer head and its fi tting.

Never clean the motor housing by spraying it with water. Use
a damp cloth to clean the trimmer. Do not use strong cleaning
agents that may damage the plastic of the housing. Let the
trimmer dry thoroughly after cleaning!

Keep the ventilation slots on the motor housing clear of any
debris.

Be especially careful when cleaning the guard near the trimmer
head (injury hazard). Use a wooden scraper or soft brush for
cleaning.

Before changing the cutting tool, cleaning the trimmer or the
trimmer head, the motor must be switched off and the power
plug disconnected (11).

Regularly clean the trimmer and check screws and nuts for
tightness.

Do not maintain or store the trimmer near open fl ame!
Follow the accident-prevention guidelines of the relevant
professional association or insurance provider.
Do not make any modifi cations to the trimmer! Doing so will
endanger your safety!
The performance of maintenance or repair work by the user is
limited to those activities described in this instruction manual. All
other work must be done by the MAKITA customer service (10).
Use only original MAKITA spares and accessories.
The use of non-MAKITA spares, accessories, or cutting tools in-
creases the risk of accident. MAKITA will not accept any liability for
accidents or damage caused by the use of non-approved cutting
tools and fi xing devices of cutting tools, or accessories.
First Aid
A fi rst-aid kit should always be nearby as a precaution in the event
of an accident.
Immediately replace any items taken from the fi rst aid kit.
When calling for help, give the following information:

Place of accident,
-
what happened,
-
number of persons injured,
-
nature of injuries,
-
your name.
NOTE
Individuals with poor circulation who are exposed to excessive
vibration may experience injury to blood vessels or the nervous
system. Vibration may cause the following symptoms to occur in
the fi ngers, hands or wrists: "Falling asleep" (numbness), tingling,
pain, stabbing sensation, alteration of skin colour or of the skin. If
any of these symptoms occur, see a physician!
